Good puzzles, good UI, and the ads are short and infrequent. The main menu is a bit slow and sometimes crashes the app. The price to remove ads is absurd ($22). I usually don't mind throwing around a few bucks to remove ads on apps I like but that's way too much.

For years, I have lamented my inability to get my hands on an actual NYT crossword puzzle. Sitting on the porch on Sunday mornings, with pen in hand, was the ultimate "me" time. Sadly, most online crosswords are so simple, there's no challenge. On a whim, I downloaded these and am obsessed! Kudos to the developers and creators for amassing a collection that will satisfy all levels of players. The ads are 5 seconds long, so as to be barely noticeable. I see thousands of hours of play ahead of me!

I really like this crossword game, the only complaint I have is that the option to remove ads is quite expensive, but it is a one-time fee which is much better than a subscription-based app. I just think 20 dollars is too much for a phone app, i would gladly pay 10. The functionality of the game is great and the selection of puzzles is vast.

Still using this app through different phone changes/upgrades. SO many puzzles to choose from! I never really write reviews but when this one prompted, me I felt like it deserved to get a good review, so here I am. If you're looking for a good crossword app that'll challenge you (but also provide the safety net of clues/hints) this is the app for you! NOT bombarded with ads, for once! And I haven't experienced any crashing either. 10/10!

I was looking for something to scratch my itch for crosswords, NYT releasing one a day wasn't enough. This app has scratched that itch, it provides have hundreds of crosswords in different sizes. I love the NYT mini and this blows it out of the water with the amount of puzzles available. Well worth paying the one time fee for ad removal.

the app is simple, fun, and customizable in terms of puzzle size and difficulty. functionality is top notch so that the puzzle "gameplay" is easy and fluid. seems like there are new puzzles added almost every time I open the app. the price tag to go ad free is kind of obnoxious, but the ads themselves aren't super disruptive anyway (in between every full puzzle at most). I'm totally addicted and do these crosswords constantly, so I went ahead and paid for the ad free version regardless, lol

Nice successor to Shortyz. I prefer the navigation, puzzle sources, and ad-free experience of Shortyz, but Shortyz is no longer being updated and bugs are beginning to appear. Redstone is a pretty good replacement. One has to put up with the occasional advertisement (or pay the one-time fee of $21), but the quality of the puzzles is good. Medium and hard puzzles are challenging enough. Wish one could more easily switch between down and across words. (Space bar did that in Shortyz.)

Puzzle is good, UI is far better than most, but two things stand out as problems. 1. It is very hard to switch from it to another app w/ phones that have digital home function controls. When you try to bring up your controls to navigate elsewhere on your phone, there is an 80% chance you add or changed a letter you didn't intend to. Very frustrating. 2. It doesn't allow your phones native keyboard so its easy to make typos. This isn't nearly as big a deal as the first point.

Love it! Endless crosswords and endless variable settings, no ads. My one minor complaint (which is only worth half a star at most) is that the game tells you when you get a word right, by making the letters impossible to erase and briefly illuminating them. There's very likely a way to turn that setting off, but I haven't found it yet. It feels a bit like cheating!

Excellent! There is far more crosswords than I expected. They come in a wide variety of skill levels. Everything from very easy to quite difficult. They are placed in groups under the authors name. I have yet to see a single author who is listed only once. It even gives various ways to sort the puzzles. That makes it easier to find puzzles you'll like.

A good vocabulary enhancement experience. I've learned a lot of words I had forgotten since high school. But many of the puzzle writers seem to share particular words, such as orca, ewe, characters from the book "Little Women," just for example. Otherwise a great time passing game at the bus stop or doctor office.

Some answers from some authors are just plain wrong or misspelled, hints are vague and nonsensical, and there's no way to hide puzzle packs from specific authors. Needs some serious moderation regarding who's allowed to create these crosswords. Other authors and puzzles are fantastic and well worth the time! Unfortunately, "Look Up"/hint options are all broken or low quality and worthless, and devs don't care to find better options. The effort they put into this app is consistently declining.

Best Crossword game on the market. The clues are automatically attached to possible answers by clicking on search icon. They have easy, medium, and hard puzzles. This is the most versitile crossword game on the market. Something for everyone. You also can choose your level by selecting the ready button and select easy, medium, or hard and only those puzzles will appear. This app is extremely versatile and fun to play.

Great crossword puzzle implementation! Easy to use interface with lots of useful options to make puzzling enjoyable. You can choose to "lock" correct words in, highlight incorrect letters, or play with none of these enhancements. There are tons of puzzles and the app works offline! Congratulations on an excellent app. It's a bit pricey, but if you don't buy, the ads are minimal and only presented between puzzles and art the start of the app, so they are not intrusive to the experience.

Really enjoy doing the crosswords. Lots of options. Easy to difficult and you can put the settings to let it help you a lot or not at all. However sometimes I'll start a group of puzzles and realize they're too hard for me. I'd like to delete them from the menu but it won't let me. Some of the ads are super loud and startling. These are relatively minor annoyances. Over all, great game!

Overall, a great experience. Lots of options on what level of crosswords, lots of crosswords at all levels, good setting options. Occasionally the don't-delete-a-correct-letter feature doesn't work, but no serious complaints, especially for a free app. My only other complaint is that the ads are sometimes in Russian and other foreign languages that make it a little harder to guess how to get out of them, but that's probably on purpose from ad makers who want you to click through.

Some of the easy levels tend to lean to medium, as some clues are just impossible sometimes to solve. It's a little hard to navigate and the options button is weird. The main screen is awful, it really needs a makeover to make it easier to navigate. Other than that, I have used this crossword for years, and it's the best one I can find in the app store. Also, the mini puzzles are annoying, either they are too easy, or impossible! Worst of all, the SHAPE of the crossword changes sometimes!

Everything you would hope for from a crossword puzzle app. Easy to use, easy to switch which direction word you're looking at. So far there are a ton of different level of puzzles to choose from. Love it! Only one silly thing - at the very end if it asks if you wanted to show errors and you click yes, you have to click again to show errors. Oh, and I wish they were a little more choosy about the ads. After doing a nice relaxing puzzle, a shooting game ad comes on and the guns ruin the chill.

The game is good enough. Lots of puzzles. Very hard could be harder, but they are fun. The price to stop ads is OUTRAGEOUS, and just saw it actually went UP! Id gladly pay a reasonable fee, not just to stop ads, but help out the developer, but the asking price is ridiculous for the meager benefit... Update: Price went up yet again for ad free experience. This app is shady with costs, as the price is now $25. For no ads! Clearly pricing out the one-time fee because make more from ads. Shady.

While the ads aren't as bad as some apps, there are still too many. At the end of every puzzle is an ad. As far as the puzzles, I love the variety and quantity of options. I also feel that the cost for ad free is too much when all the author is doing is importing puzzles from other sources. All that being said, however, I would still recommend this app for anyone who has a love of crosswords.
