Cook’n is great. I’ve been using it for a decade, and it’s gotten better and better over time. The subscription model is fine. In the old days you would resist updating for a few years and get way behind. Now you’re always up to date and the up-front cost is less. All software is going that way because it makes sense. The recipe storage in the clouds is genius! You can put the app on ALL your devices and they all sync. I have it on two laptops and one tablet. Also, any time you have internet, you have access to all your recipes even if you don’t have the app installed. When I visit my parents I can use their computer to log into my account and see all my recipes even if I haven’t brought along any of my hardware. The “capture from the web” feature is fantastic. Sometimes it works perfectly, click one button and the recipe is saved. When it doesn’t (because of how the page is formatted) they have a work-around in which you click three or four buttons and you’re done. I can’t wait to try the “capture from photo” function and start saving all the old family recipes with almost no typing. Last week I needed support because I did something dumb. They had me fixed in 24 hours. Thank you Dan, Barbara, Marisa, and all the others I don’t know by name, for a great product and great support.

My review is more related to DVO's Cookn service, than the app. Briefly, I had 'issues' with my desktop (windows) version and sought help from DVO. They helped me resolve my issue with both grace and clarity. In short, they were responsive, accurate and courteous. I have used Cookn for many years and always fround DVO to be responsive to my queries.

I love this app! I love to cook and bake and with so many recipes from different websites out there, this apl keeps them all in the palm of my hand...literally! And not just that, you can organize recipes, share recipes, and best of all for an old schooler like me, you can print your captured recipes like a cookbook! They're very responsive if ever you need to contact them and I'm so glad I stumbled upon this app. I highly recommend!

I have been a Cook'n user for years! I think I am one of the earlier pioneers. I needed a software program to help me organize my recipes and found the best solution with Cook'n. Over the years the many many improvements and features continues to keep me using the software and app. The customer support is outstanding and they always go above and beyond to help me. Thank you team so very much!!!!

I have Cook'n loaded on my PC, 2 tablets & my cell phone with everything working quite well. When I've had a problem, Haydon at Support is very helpful. Although I wouldn't consider myself as a "foodie", I do like Cook'n. I find it very convenient and quite easy to capture a new recipe which saves a lot of time and effort not having to type/enter details. I especially like the ability to modify a recipe to accommodate adjusting for more or less people with just a couple of clicks of the mouse.

I am a Registered Dietitian & evaluated many recipe/menu programs over the years - Cook’n is the best! No, I did not like it one bit when the decision was made to charge a subscription fee (I almost changed to another program) but decided to give it a try. I am so happy I stayed with Cook’n. Lightning hit my computer & when you lose most of your saved information, you appreciate the sync feature that saves your work to the cloud! I was able to reload Cook’n & download all my recipes & cookbooks.

I have been using Cook'n almost since it was first introduced. I like the ability to add purchased cookbooks as well as adding my own. For example, I have a cookbook that contains captured recipes as well as my family's favorites. I receive to the weekly newsletters and have organized the 5-day meals that they contain by month and year. I can create my own menus and shopping lists. I use Cook’n every day.

I downloaded the app today, but I already love it! Super easy to add my continuously growing hoarded recipes, find some new ones and add them all to various folders within individual cookbooks. I like the simple layout and ease of navigating. My only complaints are I would like to see maybe a note section for each recipe for any little reminders for next time. Also, an area to note if a recipe is vegan/vegetarian, gluten-free, diabetic friendly, etc. for reference when sharing and remembering.

Cook'n has been the very best cooking program that my wife and I have ever used. It's so good that we both have premium subscriptions. My wife had a catering business before she retired and has been using the program since. We tried several other programs, but non equal Cook'n. I have always cooked, but my specialty is pastries and I use the program to enhance my portfolio of recipes. The program is very easy to use and you will appreciate it as we do. It is versatile and wide ranging. You can query the program to get an unlimited source and number of recipes. Get it and enjoy it as we do.

The set up seemed to go alright. When I tried to input a recipe into my own cookbook the ingredient showed (I assumed) it was being accepted. I went to the "next" ingredient and typed that in until I had all of the ingredients. After I saved it (the ingredient list) some of the ingredients would show the quantity but not what the ingredient was. It's frustrating to try it multiple times and end up with the same result.

Simply the best and easy recipe app ever. The software team are always updating with improvements that help it become very user friendly. The best feature is the capture function. All you have to do is find a recipe that you like on the internet and BAM; you tap on the capture icon and it puts the recipe into the cook'n app along with the picture that corresponds with it. The app is absolutely marvelous. Hats off to all the Cook'n team.

It's overwhelming at times because there is so much to choose from to make. I have been subscribed on and off for 13 years so have built up quite a collection. As the app has updated over the years and operating platforms have changed I have lost my pictures that go with the recipes. I can see them in my computer and there are tons of them but they no longer show up. And I have never quite figured out why many times when I open the application I have import the cookbooks. I have about 15 of them (I think) and it gets old having to do this. I have gone through several computers over the years so I just kind of attributed the lack of pictures to this. I have always worked so contacting support 8-5 in Pacific Time wasn't really an option.

Absolutely LOVE this app. So easy to use. I do most of my work on the desktop version, but when I'm at my mom's or my daughter's I can show them recipes and we can share ideas and anything I add to my database syncs right up to my desktop. So easy to capture recipes from the internet and edit recipes on the go. Having a web page that publishes recipes I choose to share was just icing on the cake. I am a former Living Cookbook user, and really didn't think anything would compare. I was wrong.

If you want a terrific recipe app for your computer, phone, or tablet, you need Cook'n! Not only is it a tremendous recipe app, it has so many things to help you with your menus, food shopping, new cook books, etc. It's amazing. I've had it since 1999, and it keeps getting better and better. Tech Support Team is unbelievable! Best support of any service ever!

Exceptional program. Easy to use, simple to search by ingredient, organize any way you like. Menu planning, shopping list, print. Stays open while you are cooking so you don't have to print. Scan recipes, even hand written ones, capture from the Internet in a very simple way. I have it on all my devices and they synch flawlessly. If I'm at the store and see something that looks good, I can look for a recipe in the app on my phone & make sure I have other ingredients. Super support.Still A+ 1/24!

I've been using Cook'n for 10 years now I think, they have changed a lot over the years, which growth in software is good. They have gone to a paid subscription which at first I was not a fan of, but they are growing and improving the software/app often so the cost is well worth it. I had to pay for updates almost every year before they went to a subscription base so the monthly fee pretty much evens out. I love the fact that I can have all my recipes in one spot, make a weekly menu and print out a shopping list. They have made it super easy to add recipes with the capture and now the import recipe screenshot that I am waiting to show up on my app on my phone so I can start using that, super excited as I have a lot of recipe screen shots to add. All in all this app is really worth the money I have spent on it over the years and I would highly recommend it to anyone. The tech support is great as well and they get back to you within 24 hours most of the time sooner. Dan is the man... :)

The app continually freezes, or "captures" a recipe link (destined to not work over time) instead of the recipe. It seems that every update or new release creates more issues which crashes the app. I've used Cook'n software for over 20 years, and have become increasingly frustrated with it. Update: Could you please address the issue of the program capturing a link to the recipe instead of the recipe itself? I'd also appreciate instructions on how to recreate the app freezing to share with you.

Cook'n is a great way to collect and organize your recipes. They have thought of everything to do with that. However, the meal planning feature needs a lot of work. You can only make and access menu plans from the desktop version. The menu needs to be printed when you are ready to cook, although I have found a work around. Look forward to see what they come up with.

The concept is great, follow through sucks. The system is time consuming and annoying to use, no ability to check multiple recipes at once (to delete more than one at a time), and I 1,000% do not need or want the recipe amounts in the directions text. The amounts are in the ingredients. But, if a recipe calls for 3 cups of water in the ingredients, anywhere the directions call for water, cook'n auto-adds the amount in parentheses. That is actually confusing as all heck, not helpful at all.

Sophisticated program that is both a database organizer and a fun recipe organizer that an enthusiast would appreciate. The visual screens are easy to navigate but the real bonus is how recipes can be imported from the web or through scanning into the program. If you join the Cook'n club you also get access to monthly and weekly newsletter and recipes. The support staff is very responsive. The sort features are better than any I've seen in any other program. Added in Aug. '21 -- you really get help from the staff when you need it. This month I needed it.
