The last update booted me from the server, and now the server is full. The FB login is stuck in an infinite loop. I can no longer access my account at all and all my "EVERYTHING" seems to be lost for no reason. The so called support page is a faq that has no actual contact and no solution to the problem. I cannot recommend a game with such a messed up save feature. Edit: After several uninstall/reinstall, I can log in. I dont know if it was time or the reinstalls though.

Very nice graphics and smooth gameplay. The game itself is poor. You spend at least as much time collecting rewards, and rewards for collecting rewards, as you do actually playing and what actual game there is here is extremely grindy. It takes way too long to unlock portions of the game so you often find yourself grinding just to reach the next level where something unlocks. I only made it to level 60ish before quitting, but the endgame looks like it's past level 100 and nothing interesting.

The game is pretty goddamn boring, levels last for about 2 minutes if that and then you have to go through 3 minutes of loading screens to get to the next one. For some reason the game wants permission to make phone calls. It's trying to sell itself on nostalgia yet the gameplay feels so different from the originals, the only thing nostalgic about it is the music. If you actually want to play a contra game on your phone then just download an emulator, you will be a thousand times more satisfied.

Intrusive Permissions Gameplay is about as good as can be done to keep a Contra vibe with smartphone controls. Levels are way too short though. I'd rather have longer, better designed levels than an endless number of boring ones. It's passable as a game. Lowered my score because they responded to my review without addressing the issue I brought up. It wasn't the storage or phone state permissions I said were fishy. It was the microphone recording permission! You shouldn't need microphone!

The game is really well made. I really like the graphics, especially the dialogues. The dialogues really emphasize the characters and breath life into them. The cutscenes are very nice for a mobile game ♥️ Love the nostalgia in the remake of the classic music from the game as well. A job well done by konami and tencent. But the loading time is really too long. Please note this down. What's up with all the new characters? New characters seem like they came from PUBG

As someone mentioned, if you plan to play for free, it's not going to be as fun. However, IT'S WORTH IT. I put $10 on it (VIP Level 3). I'm enjoying it. Pros: Good classic Contra with some flashy updates. Good graphics for mobile. PS4 contrtoller support (makes it worth it to me). Lots of characters beyond Bill and Lance. Lots of guns. Lots of different modes. Cons: The boards are kinda short. The majority of the game is clicking to get awards - diamonds, fragments, etc. Just follow the red notification dot all over the place. It gets monotonous. There's too much to do and upgrade - weapons, souls, partners. We still need to be able to pose with both guns. Gotta have the pose.

When you think Contra, you think tight controls with high intensity run and gun action. You don't think about having to constantly reload as an endless wave of enemies run you down. The forced tutorials will even prevent you from playing however you want, locking out players from everything in the game. The permissions are a little suspicious, and are not fully explained at all. Overall, this is not how Contra should have returned.

Overall trip down nostalgia alley. Easy controls. Everything you remember from the old NES game with a massive visual upgrade. My one negative is where it applies to PvP. It's overall both glitched and unbalanced. I never wind up against players my own level, or there's a glitch where you'll get straight warped from where you were then poof on the other side then be either half or fully dead. Great game with room for improvement. 4*

I love the contra series and love that they went mobile! The game overall is great and what you would expect from an action game on this platform, the only issue I have is it has unstable controller support. I'm using the flydigi apex 2 and find it hard to control over firing. If you don't mind the touch screen, there are custom mappings so it's an easy fix. The biggest problem that knocks out 1 star is there are no separate sound options. I can't hear the music & sound effects simultaneously!

First of all, the permissions are for VOICE CHAT. Yeah, this game supports voice messages as well. Now with that out of the way, this is actually a solid mobile game. The sound is very good, graphics are detailed and neat. Level layout is attractive and simple. The controls for touchscreen are responsive and easy. I do have an issue while using a controller though; the right analog stick has free aim, yet to use that, and to try and jump WHILE shooting is impossible.

Contra is back, and badder than ever! Or I guess worse would be a more suitable word. Konami has taken the simple, enjoyable gameplay of the NES original and mixed it with frustrating touch screen controls, very obvious pay to win mechanics, tons of unnecessary pre-mission text, and a cast of different characters you'll never use because they are all locked. If you're a fan of the original, this is guaranteed to annoy you and make you wish you were playing your NES instead!

This game seems more focused on loot boxes, upgrades, & leveling up than it is on being a successor to the original. My biggest woe is with the arsenal - there's, like, a billion different ways to upgrade your guns, which sounds great, until you realize you need different materials & such to do so, and all the upgrades seem to more or less do the same thing, which is basically increasing your damage output. That goes for basically everything else outside of gameplay; There's just too much.

Constant crashes, too expensive to progress in game, too many "upgrades" required for weapons, too many side games that waste diamonds. I wish I could get a refund, I wasted my money, I advise anyone reading this to think twice before spending anything in this game. I like the game play, the idea is good, but the problems make it a horrible gaming experience.

Why does Contra need to ask to make calls with my phone? The game's sound and music are nostalgic, but overall the game is another boring slog with an overwhelming menu system. Instead of the levels and challenge being fun (like the old games) the main goal is to unlock stuff. The stages in this game are easy and only last about two minutes. There's auto aiming and a health bar(lame). Then there's cutscenes and more cutscenes. The weapons don't shoot to the screen's edge. What a waste of a game.

Im two weeks into this game, so far, it has been great. The nostalgia is on point, and its easy to control. I won't say its "pay2win", but after a certain point, leveling slows waaay waaaay down. EXP amount could raise slightly with level, or energy costs for raids could only cost half energy, rather than the same amount - that would be a good update. An offline mode would be appreciated as well. But , for many reasons, I'm loving the game regardless.

Imagine a beautiful, tasty looking muffin. It's a heaven to behold. And when you take a bite, at first it's wonderful. But something is wrong. Something just isn't right. You spit it out to reveal that it's full of TOENAIL CLIPPINGS! Tedious tutorials, p2w, and it takes longer to go through the character minutiae than it does to play a level. Very ambitious, but in the end you have to pay for everything. And the overcomplicated character development system takes away from the Contra experience.

I was thrilled that a new Contra games was being made... controller compatible, too! They needn't have bothered. When the tutorial takes over a half hour to do in order to deal with all the silliness about leveling weapons and other microtransaction related stuff? Yeah, that means you have made this WAY more complicated than it needs to be. The limited range of the weapons is also pretty stupid. If I can't shoot across the whole screen with a bullet, the gameplay flows poorly.

Terrible. Yes the controls are almost good enough, the graphics are pretty nice. BUT I WANT TO PLAY CONTRA. INSTEAD...I have to spend 30 minutes raiding previous levels so I can advance and PLAY another level, else I should pay for extra lvl'ing so my character is leveled enough TO PLAY THE NEXT LEVEL?!?! What?! So I blow through stages 1-3 never even get touched, but im 3 levels away from being allowed to play the next level? It's dumb. I want to play contra. This isn't contra.

This game is a prime example of why the purple weapon economy can ruin a great game. Contrast back, with all the old levels, a generous economy, free purples, and you'll stop seeing most of it at the purple. You'll rip through the levels so fast that you'll need to ask to put a ring on it, or you'll be in that first multiplayer match without a purple realizing that the Konami team has made a mistake. Either way, to quote the game's exuberant tutorials: Hey, follow the instructions!

I would love to give this game a full badass 5-star review, but I simply can't I personally think the game itself is great I love all the heroes and weapons. But the reason I'm not giving a full 5-star review is because during the campaign and story, the dialogue goes to fast and it doesn't give you enough time to read and see what each character is saying, I think you should have to slow it down significantly or maybe put an option to manually go to the next section of dialogue. Thanks for fun!
