Installed and after clicking open it started an ad of a stupid vulgar and bold scene, full screen that doesn't even have a button to hide or close in the middle of couleagues. Vahyat start. Should not have ads in the beginning that too full screen. And I know ads are shown with trial version but still app should not start only with ads. Just to stop ads, you want a customer to buy premium version that too for a compass.

used to be the best compass app for android, but now they have plagued the app with ads. could have added a donation button to support the devs, or link to a patron, or make an appropriately priced paid version of the app like many other simple apps do, but now you need to have an absurdly priced subscription just to not have ads. very disappointing.

Please don't comment that ads are a free trial... The app was once free, had no ads and didn't require any payment at all, it was once from r-apps and worked beautifully but it has recently changed to a new company that charges a humongous $15 fee every week to get what was once free... (Please use an online apk from the older r-apps version, that's the only way you'll be able to get everything in a non scammy and fair way... Cuz it was free for years and now is suddenly a "paid app"...)

Used to be an excellent simplistic compass app, and suddenly the developers went delusional and now this thing has a premium subscription that costs more than a streaming service?? It would have been fine if it was just a subscription to support the devs, but full screen ads? I can buy a physical compass and spirit level for a fraction of the annual cost of this app. And they don't have ads, the delusional devs probably didn't know this I guess.

EDIT: I guess greed gets everyone eventually, today I opened the app to 2 Fullscreen full-volume annoying af ads before I could use the app. I would have considered paying to remove ads if it was a single-time payment, but they want you to subscribe, giving them your card info so they can automatically charge you every month, which is ridiculous for a compass app. On top of that, the price of said subscription is absurdly high! You're better of buying a smartwatch with free compass function!

Very well thought-out compass app. Having tried several compass apps, this is hands-down the best, with excellent extra features. Calibration & customizations are simple to do. My only quibble is 99c/month for an app I only use occasionally - I avoid subscription apps as much as possible, and this isn't an exception. If it were a one-off payment $5-$10 I wouldn't hesitate.

Won't calibrate on my Pixel 2 watch. I set the display to "always on'. When I open the app on my watch I get a message to rotate the watch to calibrate until the screen goes off. Screen goes off immediately. When I open the app again I get the same calibration message. When I tap 'cancel' on the message the compass is WAY off and never shows the proper direction. Simply doesn't work.

Looks nice but it's not dependable information. I installed the app on my pixel and pixel watch and opened it side by side. Different readings on each device but next to a real compass both devices were shown as wrong. Keep working at it though because even though the info wasn't entirely correct it was too far off (if your traveling close)

Exceeds the iOS app for which I sought an equivalent. Really great for hikes with no cell connection. Makes navigating on foot more fun and less frustrating; and encourages creativity in navigation, something I wasn't even looking for, but for which I am deeply grateful! P.S. As a software developer myself, I would love to contribute to this as open source. If this would be helpful, please get in touch!

The over $60 a month price of "pro" compas/level app is just bonkers and the quantity of ads is absurd. I think that app have crossed some imaginary threshold installed number where people opening the updated app, getting bombarded with ads, closing it and deleting it forever will make developer enough money to be contempt with it sinking to the bottom of the play store's trash apps pile and being forgotten. Especially since I doubt the original version was making them any money at all.

$14.99 a week with an automatic subscription? Are you out of your mind? Be prepared to pay $779.48 a year, constantly, to remove ads and get "tech support" for what? Tf text support are you going to provide me, reinstall your app and restart your phone? 😂 A state of the art laser level, inclinometer, and compass, that are used by professionals to locate and do satellite site surveys costs less than half this price. Here's a tip, download offline map data in Google Maps. It'll then work offline.

I'm sick of these stupid companies buying free apps and subscription-ifying them. This app used to not have ads or need a subscription. It wasn't bloated, and all was good. This has happened to three other apps that I was actually using and had to (or couldn't) find alternatives for. It's very upsetting. And what kind of compass needs an effing subscription? I'll go buy a real one: $15 bucks & no further payments. But I liked having one in my pocket at all times. This is enraging.

Revised: Thanks for irrational response - It is absurd to subject "preview" users to extremely intrusive ads, i.e., full page advertising during trial period . Your management is delusional! Full page ad is too intrusive. Pay or Suffer! Here's the developer disingenuous response: Please, note that ads only show on the free trial version. Once the subscription is upgraded to Premium, the ads will no longer show on your App.

Came pre-installed and was my go to app for direction finding for years, however recently it started to run an advert (or two) before you could use its function. You can avoid this by paying 14.99 PER MONTH. I've payed $45 one time for a mapping app which i felt was fair but a subscription which costs this much to avoid debilitating adverts makes this app unusable.

I've had this app installed for probably over 5 years now and just opened it for the first time in over a year to use the leveling function. Come to find out, it's now filled with ads that just cause the app to absolutely crawl on startup, with a subscription that costs FIFTEEN DOLLARS A WEEK. Absolutely disgusting. The original app was ad-free, lightweight, and I'm pretty sure was open source as well. If I had to guess, the original app was purchased by these new developers. Uninstalling now.

I've had this app for some time on my phone (literally years) never had an ad. I needed to use the compass urgently and I had to endure the ad before the compass could be accessed, Instead of having ad alongside the app. Unfortunately not being to access the compass immediately, I will be installing this. :( It was a good app.

This developer has taken to ruining its basic apps for profit. Used to be great! Didn't need to worry about ads or wait a long time to load, but now there are constant popups and banner ads, all of which can be removed for the high high price of $14.99 per WEEK. This is a survival tool, not a game. Find something else without ads.

I thought this app was something that was from the phone since it was always there when I got a new Motorola. It worked perfectly. Then suddenly there is ads all over and it cost a ridiculous amount to have add free. $15 a week for what? What a rip off. Too bad. I wish it would go back like before. It was great for years. Now it's terrible.

This app has been ad-free and very lightweight since it was released in 2016. A recent update has ruined that, and it is now overflowing with pop-up ads. The cost to remove them is a completely absurd $14.99/week subscription. I highly recommend looking elsewhere or buying an actual physical compass for that price.

Surprisingly accurate but the developer's pricing scheme is the definition of greed. I would understand having something like a $5 fee for a lifetime removal of ads (although even that would seem a bit steep given the app's simplicity) but they're asking for a $200/year subscription for an app that probably took all of 4 hours to develop. Edit: there are other apps out there that provide the same or better services for much less money. Premium mode is not worth it. Nobody wants "VIP support"
