About the app:

Collabora Office for Android uses the same engine as LibreOffice for Windows, Mac, and Linux. This, combined with a new front-end based on Collabora Online, reads and saves documents similarly to LibreOffice desktop.

Collabora Engineers Tor Lillqvist, Tomaž Vajngerl, Michael Meeks, Miklos Vajna, Jan Holešovský, Mert Tümer and Rashesh Padia have been developing Android support since 2012, with the help of Google Summer of Code students Andrzej Hunt, Iain Billet and Kaishu Sahu.

So far so good. Wish I could open a file from a network location (Dropbox). Have to open my file explorer, search to the desired location and click on the file I want; does not show up in the recent file list. Like the idea that I have to enable editing first; prevents careless mistakes. Developers responded within an hour and got me on the right track. Love this app.

Not a great experience on a phone. I'm glad that this app exists, because I've been wanting a mobile version of LibreOffice for a long time. Unfortunately, editing a text document on a phone screen is an awful experience. You have to either zoom out until the text is too small to be legible or let it scroll as you type and only see half a line at a time. The Calc app is pretty near unusable. I know the mobile app is not Collabora's priority, but I hope it improves.

Great app. Finally found one that will let me open a password protected document. Edit: downgraded one star. When I open a file there is no option to just close the file without saving. It automatically saves it. This is a real problem as I might have mistakenly changed the file. I have to download the file from the network or make a copy just to view it so when it saves it I don't care because it's a copy.

Love that there's a FOSS option, but this app needs some work. Lag is quite bad even with the simplest of spreadsheets, it crashes with some regularity, and the dark mode doesn't function properly yet. It worked for weeks, then suddenly all of my text, despite being set to "automatic color" (meaning, with dark mode turned on, text should all be white) has suddenly switched to black, and is invisible on dark mode. Really want to love it and keep using it, but it's become too frustrating. Pixel 6

I was enjoying using this app, as it seemed much more akin to a desktop word processor than the Google Docs mobile app. But, I just reopened the book I'm working on, to find that about two hours worth of text, which I saved multiple times, is gone, and apparently unrecoverable. This is wholly unacceptable for a word processing program.

Seems like a nice app, but I found one major flaw with the worksheet feature. If you have a multi-sheet worksheet and are scrolling down in one sheet, it also scrolls down in all of the other sheets. So if you are moving back and forth between sheets, you are constantly losing your place and having to do a ton of scrolling, especially if one she has far more lines than the others. It should not work this way. It's a major pain.

I have used LibreOffice since its inception, and OpenOffice since its inception. I do NOT understand the reviews here that say this mobile app doesn't work, doesn't save files as edited, and the like. Seeing those, I opened Collabora Office, opened a small spreadsheet that I had previously downloaded from another person, added text to a cell, saved it and closed. I opened it and the text was there. Looks good to me. I will also say I never do anything significant on a phone, and vastly a PC.

This app suite is a good concept. It *not* ready for general use. I tried the Spreadsheet app, created simple formula to add two cells. That worked, but when I tried changing the formula to multiply the 2 valure the Edit never Saved; it kept reverting to original formula. Editing is not really supported. I hope this app gets more development of basic functionality.

No ads? Cool. Also no in app purchases? Even better. Works with ODT files? Exactly what I was looking for. 😁 I would happily pay for this in Google play if it were asked. My only gripe ATM is how it will move a comma when you add a new line, after it, or sometimes add a space when I didn't want one and then it's finagley to remove it. Overall, good experience so far. 😊

WARNING: Do NOT use if light sensitive or have other issues with flickering light!!!!! It was an amazing app BEFORE the current update. The current update has caused it completely lose its mind when you try to do ANYTHING but write in it. Trying to select a word will cause both the spell check and keyboard to pop up, regardless. This then causes the screen to flicker violently (possibly triggering seizures or other medical issues!). I'm very alarmed this happens as it's caused me headaches.

This is a decent app. I read that some people dont like that is doesnt work well on phone. Screen size is the issue. If you made a doc or calc sheet on a computer, it's going to be hard to edit it on a device with a small screen but at least you can. I like that it does all formats including PDF. My only complaint is that it seems slow and maybe a little top heavy but it does work. I can now view and edit my work docs when I'm on the road, which is most of the time.

Unusable. Cursor gets characters stuck to it and then no matter what, nothing else can be done. Uninstalled immediately after this review. (This issue happened on the very first new document I created with the app, the very first time I used it after installing, after using it for a few seconds). HORRIBLE first impression. Still on the search for a good Office like app.

Holy smokes! I appreciate your effort, but, what happened? Why do all other word processors keep common items in the main menu except yours? I can't even find the option for "select all" text or "copy". These basic options are hidden deep in submenus on other screens.

It would be really helpful to have a view that wraps lines at the device's screen width, and doesn't show the page breaks, margins, etc. (At least for "word" documents). In LibreOffice I believe this is called Web Layout. In editors like Google Docs, this layout is the default for viewing and editing on mobile, but you easily switch to "print layout". That feature alone would make this app *much* easier to use.

I wanted to love this. I have a Galaxy Z Fold3, a phone that can, and has, run Fallout 4, but not this app. I want to edit a budget spreadsheet I keep in Dropbox and have my bank's website open at the same time, but when I try, it has the software equivalent of a stroke, and my phone starts to heat up. I have very high standards for mobile office suites, and this would have been The One, if not for the fact that it's outperformed on all metrics by a Bethesda game in a compatibility layer salad.

I'm glad to have a way to modify my LibreOffice files, but this app needs a lot of work. Large blocks of text will decide whether to appear or not depening on the zoom level you're using, and every time you rotate your phone or switch the screen off, the app scrolls back to the top of the document. This is only during reading documents, too, I haven't even started heavily editing them.

I want simplicity in document editing on my android and Collabora delivers despite a few flaws. It's slower than its primary competitor. Text selection and copying to clipboard don't conform to conventions and can be a pain. No auto-save. But it's better in many ways. User interface is cleaner. It doesn't make decisions that are "good for your writing." You can use whatever dictation service you want. The Recent Files interface is cleaner and it remembers recent locations. I recommend it.

App fails to interface with many modern file browsers app crashes on Startup anytime you attempt to open a document through a file browser from an SMB share such things are basic requirements for any office program that needs to be able to edit business documents. Update the ability to interface with third-party file browsers properly as well as support direct links to SMB share files and I'll be able to give this another more fair evaluation

Great Office application, a little slow on document initialization load and exit. But other then that. Totally Free with no ads. Works great, if you were looking for a free document editor & editor that works well with Micro$oft documents & spread sheets you found it. A few bugs here & there but not a game killer by no means. Great job & always glad to find something that puts Micro$soft on hold. Great job Ron@Memphis, Tennessee USA

Horribly buggy, and there aren't any good alternatives. All of the office suites available on Android are spyware, and this is the only one that's open source. BUT it's an absolute piece of junk. Constant crashes, the word count function doesn't work, and I can't copy large amounts of text without it telling me to download the file (which what does that even mean? The file is on my device!). Please fix this mess! We need decent office software that doesn't spy on us, and you're all we have!
