The game stopped working entirely. When it did work it was extremely buggy, building dozens of units per turn. Game has been stripped down to the point of being a childs game. The menu for construction won't load, lost save files. The list goes on, this is a paid app most of these issues should not even exsist. I want my money back!!

Very disappointing. EA has not updated this games compatibility with newer phones. In fact, they haven't added an update since ----> 2014!!!! Why pay $10 for a phone game that not only doesn't work on current flagship phones, but also hasn't been updated in so long. Not to mention the fact that it is missing key features from the original game. Even when it was operational, it was usually impossible to finish a game without crashing and losing all progress after endless hours.

I love this game. Have it on the 360, and I'm going back to it. I've tried going through the "achieve all victory types with all characters" achievement three times and it keeps getting deleted. Today the app said it needs to be updated, but theres no update. And when I re-downloaded it, what do ya know!! The achievement progress I spoke of before was gone.. again.. thanks for trying but I'm done.

I certainly enjoy the game and it works fairly well as a mobile port. There are unlockable variants on already existing civs, which I love (Lenin as an alternative Russia, for example). Only issue is that it has issues keeping track of your progress if you uninstall. I have the achievements, but every time I reinstall, I have to start from scratch because it just doesn't seem to sign in correctly. I've unlocked Charles De Gail too many times now. Otherwise, fairly good (though unremarkable) port

So glad Google gives refunds. Old and no longer supported. Bought it on sale hoping it could be a fun mobile Civ experience. After starting it up I get several warnings that it was made for an older version of Android and may not work right (I'm using Android 10). But I'm hopeful and I proceed. Next it tries to log into Google play games service and it can't. I hit cancel in the hopes that I can still play but nope, it gets stuck in a loop trying to login and after 3 tries it just crashes.

Great Basic intro to Civ. If your looking for something not too challenging compared to the full Civ entries this would be a good start. My main gripe is the same as another commenters the AI doesn't seem to care about one another, so you get teamed up on. My recommendation is build a boat go explore and get the boosts before any AI can. It gives you a rocket start.

This version of Civ is so bad it's practically unplayable. Nowhere near enough information displayed to play properly. For example I notice after a few turns that one of my cities is now a Japanese city, but I have no idea when that happened or even how (conversion I assume, but idk if it was from a great person or not). One of many examples of how making a game more simple can end up making it unplayable. I immediately regret my purchase.

Civilization on my phone! Very well designed and fun to play. Shame it has some bugs. In particular, autosave/continue doesn't work properly, it's too easy to accidentally move units (with no undo), and it insists on having access to my Google calendar (along with a few other minor issues).

I really enjoy this game. It's really relaxing and good for when I want something where I don't have to overthink what move I'll make next. The main downside for me is that the game will bug out sometimes and won't show the tech tree or you'll suddenly not be able to accurately hit something on the screen with your finger. It'll be off-center. And when it gets buggy and slows down like that, the only solution is to shut the game down entirely and reopen.

I love civilization which makes this game worse. Everything is fine except the enemy ai is broken. It can't possibly compete with a human player even on hardest difficulty. This takes most of the fun out of playing. The other nations won't expand even close to the speed you can. The maps are also very small which takes away from the enjoyment but if the ai was better this game would be great but it's broken why build 30 city's and have nothing to do with them and no good opponents to fight?

Best civ strategy game ever. There are so many possibilities and outcomes that most games can't even touch it. I give it 4.5 *'s, though, because I have never before seen an app suck the life out of a battery like this. I can play for an hour and my battery goes from fully charged to 50%. ***UPDATE... 2 bugs found: it can "automatically" end your turn before you are ready; and no matter what, the other cultures never "meet" each other so you cant pay them to attack each other; It's still 4.5 *'s though!***

I can't believe how long I've played this game. Sometimes I go years without playing before coming back and being addicted again. The same things always make me quit playing though: the weird cheats the computer gets. Like when it takes your city even though you have multiple units there and it somehow only has to defeat one of them. Or when the autocomplete ends your turn without giving you the chance to use your ranged city attack.

Completely unplayable. Controls are tiny, difficult to use, and not intuitive. You can't cancel movements once initiated, and accidental movements are constant since it's so hard to do anything. And then even if you just suffer through all the mistakes and just keep playing even though your units don't go where you want them to and you can't call them back till they're done with whatever mistaken input the stupid controls thought you wanted them to do, there's still no strategy in it. You just don't have the options to do anything. It would not have been that hard to give this game at least as much functionality as the console versions, but instead they just cut so much out that it's not fun. And that's aside from the controls being absolutely terrible. Definitely uninstalling and demanding my $10 back.

Bad experience! Does not save progress. You play all day long and you go so far and then you press Save button and go to sleep. Next day you want to continue the progress but! When you load the game it kicks you back to the "Almost the begining!" Like a few turns after you started. Very disappointing experience. You can not save the game and take some rest. You have to play it on a single breath from start to finish otherwise you shall lose your progress.

Was a huge fan of CivRev1 on console. I bought this over 2 years ago and found it horrendous. I've since stopped playing the console version, and decided to give CR2 another shot. Once you get used to the controls and game play (which I'll admit are a bit clunky) the game plays almost identically to the console game, a bit easier maybe. Dont forget to save before putting it down for an extended period though, or you'll lose a few turns progress.

It's deceptively shallow. The AI will not acknowledge eachothers existence, meaning you are basically always in a 4v1 and can't bribe the AI to attack eachother. The auto move feature is going to ruin turns as there is no way to cancel a move that has been preset. The pathfinding can be abysmal for long moves which also contributes to the auto move feature. It's a battery drainer. All that being said it still has the spirit of civ. I have enjoyed a lot of my playtime (20 hrs+) with this game.

I have spent tons of time on this game. I like it for the most part. I like how the different civilizations affect gameplay and that you have to play to their strengths. You can use terrain to win battles that you might have lost. There's naval battles, fights for air superiority and fighting over choke points and resources. Plus they leave options for using culture to beat a militarily stronger opponent. What I dislike is the lack of diplomacy. It's always "give us this technology or die" and then it a strength check. Also, it seems like there is a flaw in the combat system. I don't think I've ever heard of a fighter jet being shot down by a musket, but it happens alot here. Also, the units are usually represented in 3s but some of the stronger units only have 2, so sometimes the 3s beat the 2s or 1s just because it had 3 troops representing the unit. It leads to some frustration. Then there's a huge skill gap in the Warlord and King difficulty. It feels like you'll play regular and suddenly all enemies have Infantrymen attacking your Archers because they somehow managed to all discover gunpowder in 3 turns (exaggeration). All in all, I enjoy the game, just wish there was a little more depth to the diplomacy with other nations and the combat mechanics were tweaked.

Could be so much better. Android devices have been fairly common for a decade and yet the U.I. is still lacking. Can't see the damage, experience, upgrades etc for units. Icons overlap so they can't be read. Documentation is skimpy. No diplomacy options, only what you are offered. Maps are tiny. Also freezes sometimes on a very good phone.

2016 review: This game is awesome. My only gripe is that there are bugs that haven't been fixed in months. One is when the phone goes asleep and you wake it up to return to the game you'll find the city menus gone. Also, the swipe to end turn image goes into super fast animation. Overall, great game! Fix bugs for 5 stars. 2020 review update: same bugs exist 4 years later but now Android update makes the game unable to load.

Most mobile games are time wasting freemium garbage. They're built simply to suck time by wasting it and force you to become frustrated enough to pay to get ahead. This is not that. This is an actual game you can play. It's a good slimmed down civ 5. The maps aren't huge, but it keeps the games manageable on mobile. Edit. Had to knock a lot off the score. The computer cheats constantly. The numbers mean nothing. How does a 7 beat a 15 (after modifiers) fifteen times consecutively?
