This app has been my daily go-to for over two years. I've used it when I visited other countries too. It tells me what exits to take and which train cars to travel in. So I'm rarely lost, confused, running around, or anxious (as a result). It feels like the developers walked these paths before me and are guiding me along. The friendly and efficient design of the app helps too. In a nutshell: strong recommendation.

I usually dont write reviews, but living in NYC this is by far the most reliable and detail accurate mapping tool that I've used. I'm not from around here and city mapper makes it so easy to understand. One thing I like is that this app let's you know the typical arriving time of a certain route. Things happen in real life and you can mentally adjust to the changes. City mappers let you be in control while allowing you to have the most accurate data. You guys are awesome!!

Used to be great. I have used this app for years, and recommended it to everyone I know trying to get around New York. However, in the last month or so since the latest update, it crashes on me constantly while I'm on trips. Unless I'm looking at this phone screen the whole time I don't know when I have stops coming up because it will just crash with no notification and I'll go to check it but it's off. On two occasions now I have missed stops going to places I was unfamiliar with.

App completely fails to ever function as a mixed transportation mapper for someone in Baltimore, seemingly unable to factor in light rail, and no way to tell it to prefer bike. Ideal use-case being cycling a mile to light rail, light rail 8 miles north, then cycle about a mile to destination. An obvious use case, but none of the above ever maps in any use case.

Updated 10-2-2019 I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. I still looooove Citymapper. I use it almost every day. And many times a day. Works great, fast, good options, pretty easy to use, etc. One big improvement. Please make Citymapper for my Samsung Gear S3 Frontier Watch. I have tried several other transit apps for the watch and they suck. One app keeps saying can't connect to server and it is slow. So, I have no working transit app on my watch at least that is fast and reliable.

One of the best apps for Android, period. Used this app NYC and Singapore and it worked great. I find getting around subways is not so hard, but buses are trickier and combining the two even harder. Will tell you when/where to pick up a bus, map stops, alarm you when time to get off. It was very helpful in Singapore. Does not list fares, and no turn by turn map navigation line Google, but still a great app. Update: Head to head better than Google maps. More accurate bus times and updates. 11.18

A must have when traveling in cities!!!! This app was recommended by a youtuber and she was on target. Just put in where you want to go & either "now" or a set arrival or departure time & it gives tons of options with their corresponding times & costs. You can search ahead and save trips to use when you are offline. You can save locations which you use/need often. It has an alert to let you know when your stop is approaching. Sometimes following the walking while on the move is a bit confusing.

This app is decent with no annoying ads, but it focuses on major cities. I stated in my previous post that when I tap on the link Transportation button it's blank and the directions aren't an option through the walk button. These are the main issues. To get me somewhere works. I would prefer the developer provide a solution to the link issue here in the review section rather than by email if possible.

The app is really great for figuring out different routes to get to places, but the GPS navigation is so difficult to use because the view makes it difficult to determine which side of the street I should be on or which direction I should be walking. The actual compass effect of the map (the highlight that projects from your dot and moves with your phone as you walk) is very inaccurate.

Citymapper is less accurate than some of the other apps out there. the fee to get the best route planning for my situation (chronic fatigue) is a little steep. however, the app is useful for pre-planning and making decisions about which bus or train lines make the most sense the night before, just don't rely on the advance times. I've had busses that show as 6 minutes away just vanish off the screen and not show up.

I like the Citymapper app a lot. The information is in real time and there are several options. My biggest gripe is that some the travel directions make no sense. Why would I get off a stop before the station, follow the walking instructions to the tracks at the back of the station, which has no entrance, only to have to walk around to the front of the station for a later bus or train and it makes me late? Sullivan Station in Boston MA has no a back entrance. I hope that flaw is corrected.

I use this daily since my work requires a lot of subway and bus travel. Helps me maximize my time because it lets me use alternative routes when one train or subway is delayed. Update Sept-10-2019 The bus tracker stopped functioning for 2 days (Friday and Saturday) and the app never recognized it had a problem. Instead, it kept advising long detours using the subway and lots of walking. Buses ran normally, but the app remained oblivious to reality and its own flawed function. Very disappointed with the publisher.

I like Citymapper, especially the ability to get directions that including biking to transit, a feature which nobody else (including Transit & Google Maps) has. But I wish I could use transit & own bike (not just bikeshare). It's main drawback is it's complete lack of settings or customizability. It gives tons of different options for getting places, which I really like, but it needs options to filter & sort the results list, which can sometimes be overwhelmingly large. What if I just want the fastest option to show up at the top? Or perhaps I don't have a scooter account and want to hide those options? Also, it has no settings, so there's no way to customize the way the app works. I also wish it would show not only travel time but estimated arrival time.

The 7-day trial worked very well for me in NYC. I rarely took wrong turns, and the level of detail for train cars and times was great. It made city navigation easy so I could focus on fun things. If I lived in NYC or was taking another big city trip immediately, I would keep this app and pay for sure. The only downside is that cancelling isn't intuitive. There should be a button in the app, but if you buy it through Google Play, you have to cancel that way.

This is the greatest public transportation app I have ever seen and I don't know how this works. Provides a smooth, step by step navigation with live data at every point and precise map view. The "Go" feature not only gives you a precise total arrival time including walking times but also encourages you with fancy statistics over your savings. Haven't seen any visible ads so I heavily wonder how they monetize this great product ?!?

I have used this app for several years, and recently I have noticed a severe drop off in quality. I used to pay for a monthly subscription for some of the extra features, which they released for no additional charge with one of the more recent app updates. Since then, the reliability of the app has severely diminished -- it has incorrect times of departure, it completely ignores trains as an avenue of transit when mapping from one destination to the next in my area, and it is extremely glitchy.

This is my favorite transit app. The real time trip information, which subway cars, entrances and exits to use. Many cities and modes of transportation make it useful almost anywhere. I love the ability to share my location, trip, route and arrival information with others via social media, messaging or email apps. Great job by the developers.

Updates last year caused "no internet" errors when other apps like Moovit and Google Maps still worked. Not fixed all 2023. Also destination search can't find major train stations in Los Angeles. Used to work great before, but unusable now. --- OLD: This app updates itself as you move, automatically switching from walking to bus route mode if you catch a bus. It tells you when to get off, and then switches to map setting to show you where to catch the next bus. The intuitive design is excellent.

I love this app since it makes getting around cities easy and even tells you the cost of the bus fare. The only thing is wish they would add a way to put multiple stops on the route for times when I'm running an errand and will be at my destination for only a few minutes max or if I have to make a stop before my final destination.

UPDATE: The app is now shutting down during the trip. I don't understand why that's happening. As soon as I start the trip, it tells me to get off at the next stop, then it shuts down on its own. This doesn't happen with other transit apps. The app is great with estimating and route suggestions, however, at times the best option is not available. An extra bus is added when you can just take one to get to the connection or the destination.
