I went back to chomp after awhile with my stock sms and it seemed it improved but it's constantly not sending either complete messages or whole texts going missing. It is not my carrier service as it doesn't happen with stock sms. My txts get even erased from my own records at times which is frustrating. This will cause a lot of headache between family, Significant others etc I like the customization feature which is why I wanted to use it but it's not worth it to have a great looking sms app.

Overall excellent messaging experience. The extent to which one can customize that experience is great, and this opportunity contributes greatly to the feel of the app. The only issue is the ads. While mostly unintrusive, if the app loads late it may push down a conversation that you were just about to click on, causing you to click the ad. This is but an infrequent, minor, and avoidable problem. However, I wish there were options for customizing the size and shape of the quick-reply popup.

I use to like the feature where I can hold down on a text that I have sent or a text that was received and selecting "speak text" from the drop down menu. This feature just all of a sudden disappeared. I sent an email to sustomer service several days ago and I haven't heard anything back. Also I've wondered for awhile, why can't I send a video in chomps? I've had chomps for SEVERAL years and it seems like it slipping instead of improving.

After 6 years of using alternative apps, I thought surely Chomp would have added the ability to send voice clips. Unbelievably, it hasn't. That is a standard, necessary feature. I can't give more than 2 stars, despite the customization. 6 years ago, the response to my review was to use Textra if voice clips are that important to me. I do use Textra, and switch when I get bored. Each text app I use has voice clips. If Chomp adds voice clips, that would be all I'd need. Why won't you add it?

Compared to other top sms apps, this is my favorite. However. there are no visual notifications by the icon , only sound, so new messages are too easy to miss! Help desk claimed there was an update, but there isnt! Otherwisr, easy to use, highly customizable (including delayed sending options), displays more conversations than some other apps, text is easy to read, able to easily block unwanted senders, backs up automatically using Google backup service.

BEST MESSAGING APP I've been using this app for years and when I got a new phone I contacted the developer on how to move it to my new phone and he helped me right away love all the options and set up features and you can have so many different themes too. the pop up on the home screen. is awesome to a quick response you can also set up. just an awesome messaging app!

*UPDATE: 1/25/24- Troubleshooting steps haven't helped. Still won't update.😔 *UPDATE: 12/30/23- App won't update!* The only messaging app I'll ever use. I love the customization it allows. You can create how you want ever element to look, from the background, bubble style, font, colors, everything. You can even submit themes to the developer so others can use it also I've used Chomp for the better part of a decade now, and I'll continue to use it on every device I own as long as it's available.

I tried other texting apps because I didn't like the standard app on my phone & I kept coming back to Chomp so decided to try it out. I love how you can customize the texting environment & it tells me if my messages were delivered or not. I would recommend this app. *Would eventually like to see the option to respond to texts as in the iOS text options...

This has been my app of choice for years now as a premium user. The service has never failed me and that's including the only issue I've ever experienced... Recently my outbound texts were not being received, I messaged Chomp and received a response within two hours. They were very attentive and resolved the issue quickly. Aside from the customizations, my fav part of the app is the option to schedule texts for later delivery (2 hrs, 1 day, 1 wk). Using Chomp is an effortless-no brainer for me.

Update: i still love this app but won't work with my galaxy 5 smartwatch. I cannot create a message. It wont recognize it as a default app on my watch which forces me to change to default messaging. If it worked on my watch i would give it 5 ☆ again... ------ Still Chomp-in I have been using the app for over 5 years, I still love it. I really like that it is so customizable. ( I can't think of a feature in it, that isn't). I have the paid version (totally worth it). Works on all my phones

Been using this app on and off for well over 10 years. It's a great app with plenty of customization options and features and the one time payment to remove the ads is definitely well worth it. However, my only gripe (as is with any third party messaging app) is that chomp doesn't support RCS. That is literally the only reason why I haven't used this app . If the dev were to figure out how to add RCS messaging, I would definitely use again.

A fairly good app. Better than most. Needs better gifs, emojis Last word of text too close to send button. Results in accidentally sending before ready. Hard to edit last word without sending message. Oct 2022. Had to delete. Contacts with IPhone could not receive texts. Now cannot reinstall on Note 20. Since last update, unread message counter is never correct. 19 Apr 2024.

Chomp is great, so customizable from fonts to theme and notifications.. also has a delay message feature, great for those accidental typos or sending to the wrong person sometimes! Works well with all contacts from other apps too. Only thing I'd like, would be if they could update the emoji's and create some more diverse ones! Using on the Galaxy S8+. 7yrs later, update, 5/4/2024 - Still using it and love Chomp... especially that you can send a pre-written message at a time set by you. Glad fo

The only thing going for Chomp is it's highly customizable UI. Otherwise it is just unreliable when it comes to new messages. Sometimes a new text comes in and it doesn't show up marked as new in Chomp. It's there if I search for it...but why isn't it marked new? Other non-Google/non-Samsung messaging apps have no problem. I am forced to change my messaging app away from Chomp when I don't get verification texts I send to my phone. And using Google to backup settings makes restoring difficult.

I've been using Chomp for a long time, donated too. It's still okay, but it's missing a ton of features that a lot of other messaging apps have, such as the ability to react to texts with emojis, encryption, etc. Very frustrating. Downloaded from 5 stars to 2. After 10+ years in existence, the app should have improved. It's not 2015 anymore. Where are the features? Looking to switch to a new texting app that lives in 2024. Will uninstall Chomp as soon as I find one. Get with the program, folks.

I updated my old review so you know I STILL love Chomp. i love this app for texting because you can customize colors, fonts, type size, images, etc. Definitely better than stock app. Individual notification sounds, blocking, etc help save time and cut down on interruptions. I am vision impaired so all of these customizations make it easy for me to read/send texts.

On one hand, this is the most amazing texting app that I have ever had. With so much GREAT CUSTOMIZING. love it!! But the big problem is it will not let me send videos of any kind or any size. I have had many texting apps and they all let me send videos. I understand that a video under a minute send the best, which is fine this app will not let me send a 5-second video🙄😢 If not for the video problem I would clearly give it five stars. I did do the help section with videos it did not change.

There are a couple things that I don't like about this app number one. You can't pick a specific message and put an emoticon on it like I can't press and hold a specific block of message and attach something to it or write about it or whatever where you can with other messaging apps In addition, when you try to back up and restore it, you lose a lot of messages.. Otherwise, I really enjoy it

I've been using this lovely app for 15 years and would never use any other texting app. It's that good and I'm so loyal that I even have the paid version. But it's having a problem where it won't save custom notification sound settings. I keep trying to change the sound for a particular contact, it sticks for a few messages, then reverts back to the previously set sound. I hope it gets fixed soon. Google Pixel 8 running Android version 14.

I love how you can customize the app, and the text notifications that just pop up and you can simply reply. I don't like that you can't use auto-correct when doing it that way. It also seems to take way too long sometimes for people to receive my texts and photos videos. Also when searching for texts, it'll show but when you select the one you want it'll just take you back to the last text you sent.
