Fantastic app that has taken me from slightly advanced beginner to moderate skill level. I use the free version but I maximize my learning by taking advantage of all the features whenever I can: the daily puzzle, three additional puzzles every day, and a weekly lesson. I tried 8 other chess apps. This one, hands down. I did submit a couple suggestions on how to improve the app, but those are minor tweaks focused on learning that, without, doesn't take away from the experience by any means.

Same aesthetic as the desktop website, but formatted specifically for mobile. In my opinion, this is a good thing and works very nicely. There are bugs here and there, but nothing serious enough to interrupt gameplay (for me at least). However, one notable negative I have is that the "Settings" page is a bit difficult to navigate for newer users. On a more positive note, there are a lot of theme options that allow you to fully customize gameplay (the looks of the board, pieces, backdrop, etc).

Hands down best chess app. Play against bots & people worldwide. Don't have a chessboard but want to play a friend?!? Good news!! The only reason I will not give 5 is the pay barrier. I understand this as a business model the only thing that sucks is the puzzles are locked behind 3/day or via watching adds / having premium. The same goes for the learning section, but that's 1 a week with no way to unlock. But it's a minor complaint the app has no pay barrier for chess itself and has good UI.

Super slow gameplay. It seems that the app intentionally slows you down that makes you lose on time. Sometimes, you need to repeat your move 3 times. My Internet is fast and the gameplay on other apps is fast. I think it's a tactic to get you pay for it to get faster and win. Look, I pay and win against free users who are artificially slow. I would recommend other apps.

Changing my review, but there are still some problems with this app. Many people sometimes stall games on purpose or on accident. For example, if you disconnect from a game it usually kicks me out in 15 seconds, but for when others disconnect it takes a long time to have them resign. Like its not their fault and they shouldn't be really penalized for it, sure they should lose elo but shouldn't be reported. Also just revamping the whole thing altogether would be a good 👍.

My favorite way to play chess online by far, but I've recently been having issues trying to screen record my online games on my phone. My recordings are fine as long as I'm simply navigating the app or even playing against the computer, but when I boot up any online game the whole screen goes black until the game ends. (Audio still works fine.) Same issue occurrs when trying to stream on Twitch. Already submitted a report to the support team, if this could get fixed I would def give 5 stars

Good for learning. I get frustrated in ten minute games sometimes online when it seems some people stall they do it to annoy you into playing bad or forfeiting. But I really appreciate this app it's THE ONLY REASON I can play chess. And to the developer can you please let us have a report button that truly catches trolls? P.s. thank you for this app. Make the puzzles puzzles tho, instead of 8 moves. Puzzles are meant to teach not be so complicated that you can't learn

It's a good app to use offline. I enjoyed the matches and puzzles. Hopefully you don't run into the same bug I have (none of my friends have). I haven't been able to sign into my account on the Android app for 5 months now so it is difficult to use my paid membership. Customer support seems overwhelmed so and been slow to respond. A dev determined that it was caused from a bug in a Google authentication library so to fix it I should try signing out of my phone or do a factory reset. Not happy.

very well ran site with tons of options for types of games to play and a wide range of customizations available for everything from your board and pieces, background, open games layout, and many more. I've used the site for years now and never had a bad experience. it's well maintained and is never lagging. I say bravo to the crew, keep it up! 🤜👏🤛

Love chess, this is were the trenches are !!!!! Edit: love this game, love the people behind it but the app version needs some improvement with connection. Ways to go back to puzzles when you get disconnected. Edit: loses another star for me... I can had many games where I release the piece and it released it a space too early and has coased me to lose a many of games recently and tbh makes me not want to play when you lose a game to a screen or coding error because it thinks you released early

This is a solid app that works really well. I do have a bone to pick with the Puzzle Journey feature. I tend to get three or four very hard puzzles with extremely obscure solutions (which stands to reason, since I am rated about 2700); then, failing them, I get an insultingly easy puzzle where I take an obviously hanging Queen. It's sort of like getting complex differential equations wrong, then having to answer 5 + 8. Absurdly condescending.

I've been a member for awhile. I would say it's missing a lot of elements that are useful. 1. They seem to remove real time play back, in game analysis. 2. Option to Screen record or record game video option. 3. Variant chess in mobile apps. Maybe I can't find it. 4. No /ping option for Mobile app, I realize it works for desktop. But it doesn't work in the app. 5. No latency, or live ping option to see how terrible your lag is. Again missing key features from Mobile app perspective.

Although I have far more apps than are practical, this is the only game on my phone or computer. It's also among the top five apps on my phone that I use regularly. If you enjoy the greatest game ever invented, this will be a winner for you. It is far from perfect, but still wonderful. They really need to fix the "CHAT." Wonder to another app for a second, or even rotate your phone and everything just typed in the CHAT feature, but not sent to your opponent, might permanently disappear.

This is an awesome chess app, my favorite one. I love that there is so many features, so I updated to Premium. One thing that could be improved on is keeping the boys from the packs, cat pack, chess clash pack, etc. Also please make it easier to jump around in the lessons. Most of them I already know. Plus, you can customize the board, the pieces, and the background. Thank you for making this app. I really appreciate it.

If you are into chess, even a little, you should try this. I never got into chess much, but I was recently invited by a friend, and things just clicked. Great training aids, videos, professional help, and chess puzzles. You can play people, or Bots, and almost everything can be customized to your style. I wish puzzles had an option to confirm/cancel moves. Games have the option but puzzles do not. On phone screens it is easy to drop a piece on the wrong square.

Must have for chess lovers or those just learning. But can be really aggravating because it locks you out or loses your state too easily. For example, you can't go back to analyze the puzzles you just did if you hit the back arrow. If you choose the wrong time limit for puzzles and try to redo it before doing any puzzles, it locks you out until the next day. Tried to give feedback but the in-app link for that went somewhere else.

Absolutely one of the best chess apps. I just wanted to note that, for some reason, my messages are tiny. Not the chat function while playing, but the actual messages section. I don't know if a setting got changed or what, but my other apps are unaffected. If it's just a setting that needs to be changed, then that's fine. I just want to know what to do about it.

I really like the app. Finding the game as quick and easy. The games versus the computer is very competitive for skill level. My only knock when I'm playing the computer for practice I don't have the choice of being black or white. Or, I have yet to find the setting that allows randomization of black and white or just a button that will allow me to choose black or white.

Buggy as hell & half the app is behind a paywall While I was doing the puzzles, I noticed that some of the pieces weren't there at first, or some of the pieces that were there disappeared. It got to the point where I started counting the pieces and writing it down on paper. About half of the time, the math didn't add up. I also can't have an explanation for the puzzles without paying. Cash-grab of an app.

I'd say overall this app is nice. My only complaint is sometimes the lag. I will attempt to start a game but it will show I have low connection. I will attempt to quit but it will still put me in a game. And then I'm just simply stuck and unable to make any moves and just lose my rating. If the connection is "low" it shouldn't start a game I can't even play.
