I would recommend this chess app, although just to warn you ahead of time. When you get to the master level and then some the computer is set to ruthless mode. Just think of a player that has no respect for his opponent or the game, and that's who you're playing against. I think they went a little much for master and grandmaster and although I enjoy the challenge it just doesn't feel genuine in full. But would still recommend for beginners, advanced and more. Check ya later.. pun intended 😊

Five stars because the app is great and skill curve with each level is good. However, some improvements could be made. For example the list of moves at the end of the game would be very beneficial to do a playback or a retrospective. Second, even at advanced at above levels, the robot does silly moves and ends it's game on a suicidal note.

It's a good app in my opinion. It does exactly as it says it does and does it well. I've seen a few reviews about the game being buggy or the CPU cheating, but in the 5 months ive been playing, I havent seen a single thing they are claiming. There are ads like any other free game, but it's only a one image ad at the end of the match.(no 30 second videos or that nonsense) The only reason I'd give this a 4 star, is because the CPU tends to get very wonky when there are only a few pieces left.

Worked into becoming a much more improved player with this app. At the hard level, it's challenging enough to find different openings; The realization becomes apparant; game momentum is key. I've less fear of sacrificing pieces in play now. Sometimes at expert level the computer makes obvious mistakes in my favore; that's when the back button helps overcome this. The computer will not allow me "en´paussaunt," but does itself. (The only negative) - great graphics, stats board and choice in levels

The graphics and controls are well programmed. The concept of difficulty levels is an interesting idea. However, I found the implemention of the game play to be rigged. The player has to checkmate the game, while the game only has to mate the player. This changes the entire strategy of game play for anyone who's played before. This also rigs the concept of difficulty levels. If you're looking for a true chess game, I suggest you look elsewhere.

This game is good practice for any level person. It keeps you thinking of new strategies. Don't expect to win once you get to the higher levels though, unless you are a high rated master. Good otherwise, except it would be nice if captured pieces were displayed on the side of the board. Also, wish there were hints each level, even if you did the last level with hints, so you could see how to beat something that never makes a mistake.

I enjoyed that it allows you to progress from beginner and win your way to tougher games. I cheated & moved 1 turn back. I think it would force me to get tougher if I had to suffer for my errors. Still it's a great trainer. Keep on enjoying it. I haven't played in years. I'd like to try more master openings. I've forgotten most. But the Sicilian defense can be employed nicely here. Great setup! Thanks for letting me see what I've lost verses retained. It definitely has nice pieces Best wishes!

Very little to complain about. Straight forward, lots of fun and excellent for amateurs wanting to learn the game. Ads are a pain and sometimes the sound goes out. The game can get slightly monotonous but it's chess... so... it's not really about cutscenes and upgrading your skills and armor or customizing an avatar so, monotony isn't really that big of a deal. I found it preferable to several of the other chess games which had more bells and whistles and were almost exclusively pay to play.

Great game with multiple levels of difficulty so it gives everybody a place to start, and because of this you're able to climb into higher difficulties. It's got pretty good graphics. It's a great way to both kill time and hone your chess skills. I genuinely have so much fun playing this, props to the devs for making a great product. As a user I do have a recommendation for the devs, you should put a button to see the list of moves both sides made, that way players can learn new techniques.

WOW! WHERE DO I EVEN BEGIN! Nice and simple and easy to use. I love how you can switch from 2d chess board to 3D. I prefer 2D from the top view. But you can choose what you want. It never freezes . Helps you learn more. You can review your game after. It let's you go back in case you made a mistake. I would recommend this to anyone beginning and or middle to good level .

Extremely annoying that when you lose a game it blocks the playing board with a new screen that says "you lose". I, & I'm sure most everyone else who plays chess, would like to see how the last move caused them to lose the game. Yes, you can cancel out the screen but that takes an extra step that should not be necessary. If it were up to me I would have a "new game" button appear somewhere that it is not ubstructing the board when your last move causes a loss.

Was a wonderful app, really. I'm ok with ads, I played for 2 or 3 days, then found that in puzzle mode, if I lose, I have to watch a 30 second ad, I'm not joking, the puzzle mode is 1 move checkmate, and I'm still learning, so it's fun to play, but not when I get 30 seconds of commercials, just got missing one. The game also puts a pop up screen asking if you want the next round or replay, which is fine, but it covers the board, so I get that, then the ad, so I can't see what I screwed up.

This is just like any other chess game, but what I like about it is the visuals. It's not too simple and not too over the top. The peices move at a decent pace where it's just right to keep track of your moves and your opponent's moves without getting extremely bored or not realizing what just happened. The different difficulty levels are challenging and require an extreme amount of strategic thought.

I think this app is very good, but there are one thing that I wish were added to make it closer to 5 stars. I wish I needed to confirm that I want to undo a move the first time I click it as too many times I've accidentally undone a move which no longer longer counts even if you make the exact same move and the computer seems to play a lot worse. Edit: Originally, I didn't think you could analyze moves once you got to the last move, but you can as long as you select "Back" first.

Solid chest simulator. Graphics aren't spectacular, but everything is clean and more than sufficient for chess. No flashy or gaudy effects. AI is solid, and provides a good challenge without being too difficult. I've played some chess simulators in the past that were absolutely too hard on any difficulty, but I made it through hard difficulty on this one without too much headache. Enjoyable and flexible game, good job.

VERY inconsistent AI. In one round, it's practically giving up pieces with moves that don't make sense or give any benefit. In the next, it's suddenly very aggressive. I enjoy trying new strategies so I can improve, so I do like the ability to take back a move so I can see how an opponent would respond. But you can't do that for the last move. The ability to take back the last move would overcome the first issue, but until then I'm switching to a different chess app.

This is one of the best chess games I've played with the computer.. The first couple of levels I felt was just to get the player interested by letting them win. The fun starts once you cross the Hard level to the advanced level. The expert level is good but my fav so far has been the Candidate Master level, that really did sweat me. PS: I see some people saying you can't do Castle move, you can if you move the King first instead of the Rook. Once it gets to the Master level, the computer makes extremely well-thought moves like situational sacrifice and since it takes very less time to go through it's algorithms, it makes these moves fluid quick. Crazy that sometimes it actually does pause to think and that's when you know you did something good haha..it's a joy to try to trick the system, get to the advanced level and you can have fun. Good luck people! Update: currently on the Grandmaster level on this game :D not sure if it's anything similar to the real Grandmaster level lol but nice feeling :P

This app has a simple user interface that's a breath of fresh air compared to other phone games. So far the ads have only shown up at the end of a game so they are annoying but not obtrusive. The game defines a draw differently than I was taught, if the King isn't currently in check but can't move anywhere without putting himself in check the computer calls it a draw instead of a win. I don't really mind because it's just practice but I did have to come to reviews to confirm it wasn't just me.

Chess, the thinking man's game. Depending on how capable you are in a match. If you play too well in the beginning, you can expect a show stopper as you progress. This game is for beginners, many that need practice and hone your skills because it will give you a criticism of where you are making the questionable moves and the bad. The textbook moves, the all-star moves and the good ones. It has its rankings as you progress and if you stay too long expect the show stopper. Talent builds Skills.

Ratings on levels are extremely flattering. I just unlocked EXPERT. HA HA HA!!!! Funny!!!! Levels begin at beginners, easy, medium, hard, and expert. I don't know what the next level is. Going nite nite.🤪🤣 I personally feel that I am an average player, to win against a hard player to qualify as an expert is pure laughter absolutely no way. It's very well designed with end game challenges where you mate in one move or more. I really like those challenges. Enjoy UPDATE: can't pass grand master
