Best chess app, right to the point, good look and color scheme, added great features in. Ads weren't super intrusive (they have gotten a bit worse though). What would earn a a five star would be being able to press on opponent pieces to just visually see where they move, or some sort of toggle to show all affected squares. Or a highlight function, or anything like that. Also, had to uninstall and reinstall because it stopped being able to open for some reason, but this is the first time.

I really like this app. No annoying ads popping up during the game, one ad after a game ends... Cool. My only real caveat is that you can't offer a draw in multiplayer. Would love to see that fixed. EDIT: The online aspect appears to have gone to pot... Can't keep signed in and half the time it says you're signed in as someone else, usually someone you played against recently.

Great app. The one super annoying thing -why no shortcut for rematch with the player, that you just finished playing?! It only makes sense. You have to type the whole name, and sometimes you can't even find the simbols they are using in their names. Yes, it does have an option for previous opponents, but not the one that you just finished playing. and most of the time, that is the one you want to play right away, usually if you lost. 😁

There are a lot of chess apps to choose from, and I would say this is one of the better ones. The design is intuitive, and the features are robust. I particularly enjoy sparring again the AI as unlike a lot of other chess programs out there, the difficulty curve hasn't suddenly spiked from one difficulty level to another. This app also works well when playing against another player in a real time game. I think AI Factory has done such a good job here that I am going to upgrade to the pay-to-play version - and I don't say that often! Recommended!

This is very excellent chess app., in my opinion. It has 12 levels, and let me just say it's pretty darn hard to beat at even level 9. You can also go back over your game - a very nice feature. It's 3-demensional, which I like. You feel like your actually playing. The layout is a very nice appearance, and, you have options for, if you so desire. You also have consequetive take-backs, so you can try an optional play to help improve your game - to see how things look with a different move.

No problems with functionality. I've seen chess apps that don't even setup the pieces correctly. This game play is good. Graphics are nice without being too much. I play levels 1&2 to build confidence. Levels 3&4 are a good challenge for me. Perhaps you can handle the higher levels. The player should be able to pick an opening that the computer sticks to for 5+ moves. Game analysis would be nice too. For a fun, free app to pass the time though, this might be for you.

This app this great for both beginners and pro players! It has a customizable board/pieces, solo/multi-player option, not too many ads, and you can also undo moves. As long as you remember your pieces, you'll get the hang of playing. Just a couple of things to adjust to the game, the CPU lags and takes a while to move pieces in harder levels, and the instructor could use explanations. Until then, 4 stars!

It's been a great program for brushing up on my chess. The Tutor will suggest a move, but the Analyze will look deeper and sometimes suggest a better move. Either one can be overridden and you can enter your own move. There are 12 levels of difficulty. It keeps statistics, lets you save and reload your games and has many other features. It was well worth the $1.99 for the ad free version.

Ads that pop up on the very top banner, hardly noticeable. Unfortunately you have ads that take the entire screen and are timed (a few seconds) but these are very few in-between. Other than that this app does what it sets out to do. Keeps me busy and I find it fun. Oh, it has a few options, aside from board/playing pieces texture it also has a practice mode that helps those just learning the game. Also has 7 difficulty settings.

My complaints are with the introductory level and the next level above that. There needs to be another level in between those two difficulties. Sometimes I'll destroy the "level 1" (above the intro level) and then the very next game I'm wiped out in seconds for multiple games on end. Seems really unbalanced. It is incredibly frustrating and discouraging to a less than rookie player like myself. The intro computer let's you beat it. Other than that, the game runs well and the ads are annoying.

Good app for practicing. I like the tutor function but it lacks explanations. The ads are skippable. Pleasant board and piece options. The AI does some weird stuff sometimes, like refusing to defend itself 4-5 moves from checkmate but it's mostly good. I would like to see more info, such as move analysis in the "review game" feature and tutor. Both Hint and Tutor seem to do the same thing, sometimes offering a different move suggestion but with no explanation.

Good at what it does. I wish the AI allowed for a little more difficulty variety, especially at the lower end (I'm a terrible chess player, and games can be pretty hard). Also has long ads. Game play is really good, and graphics are really good. Very well-made app. Edit: found some of the lower-end settings the developer recommended, and that helped a lot. As far as the ads, I bought the paid version, and it's definitely worth the $2.

Updated phones, and the new version just doesn't have it. Different look, different sounds, different animations and now, It seems like choosing any level over 2 actually selects an option to flip a coin, with heads being level 1 and tails being level 10. So choosing a level 3, which used to consistently be a good game for a bathroom break, I either get an opponent that essentially just vomits and collapses, or I get high blood pressure because I'm facing robot M. Carlson.

Nice options, smart AI. The difficulty curve is very steep. The difference between level 3 and 4 is easy versus really hard. Also, it takes up over 100mb installed, probably due to the long ads it loads even if you aren't connected to a network. It will eat up data if you are connected. 3rd most data hungry ap on my phone next to YouTube and Phone.

The game does mostly what you want it to do. Reason for the low rating is because of the ads. When I launch the app, then press play game, a fullscreen ad plays before I can make a single move. And whenever you are playing a match, you constantly have animated ads playing at the top of the screen, which can often times lag the game. Another fullscreen ad plays after every match. Don't put triggers for ads *before* players can even play the game. That's just bad, and will ruin your game.

Editing my review from 3 years ago. Changing from 5 stars to just 2. The app itself hasn't changed much, but what has changed is the ads.. They're obnoxious.. And I'm certain they didn't used to be. The app will run an ad right after you finish a game, and it forces you to sit through it and watch. The ad is probably 30 seconds but feels like minutes.. It isn't like other apps I have that let you X out of an ad almost as soon as it starts.. No, chess makes you watch it. Who does that? Not ok...

A good version of chess, coming from a novice. The ads are a real problem. Full screen ads are a real pain. These ads are 30 secs long and have sound when you have sound turned off in the app. In response to the developer, that's what I am saying, some adds are not allowing you to hit close until 30 secs or more has passed. Typical ads are 5 secs, not all.

Used to work. Had this on every android device since 2015. Now it crashes every time a press play. Crashes 4 or 5 times before it will start. Crashes during play sometimes too. Doesn't crash ever if data or wifi is off. I think it has something to do with the ads. Also, many ads have a 30 second timer that takes 45 seconds to complete. I will never buy and product advertised on this app. Update 7/29/21. Ads cause the screen to go black and freeze the phone. Completely unusable.

Great Little Chess App. I've enjoyed it for years. The look or skins are great IMO. Functionality and options are perfect for me. I'm an ok player just getting back into the game and I think this app definitely helps hone my skills. Just really wish I could pay the dev to get an add free version. ** Wow, Super Thank you for the fast response in just a couple of hours. I'll upgrade asap. 👍

I've had this chess game for years. I play it everytime I have down time. I currently play at level 10. All the improvements are great, however they have caused glitches in the program. I own the note 10+ & can't complete a game now. You can hear the pieces moving but the game continually freezes. It flickers and freezes continually. Very aggravating, if I could return to the previous version I would in a heart beat....
