More About Caves (Roguelike)

A classical turn-based roguelike* styled game, with pixel art graphics. The main feature of the game are caves, that you can dig through using your pickaxe. Both magic and high technology go together here.
*From Wikipedia:
"Roguelike is a subgenre of RPG games that are characterized by random level generation, turn-based gameplay, tile-based graphics, and permanent death of the player-character."

Also features:
- Your own main base
- A lot of unlockable high-tech armors
- Different special abilities
- Find resources and craft unique and powerful items in a Crafting Station on your base
- Hordes of skeletons, mutants, robots, and other creatures
- Create your unique character by choosing different stats. Find your playstyle and your tactic.
- Perk system
- Big, randomly generated areas to explore
- Many interesting items
- A huge weapons arsenal, from bows and daggers to plasma guns and energy swords, experimental guns, and magic superweapons
- Each weapon has its own unique ability
- Comfortable controls (Gamepad support, Touchscreen D-Pad)

The game is in constant development and I am actively working on new content and gameplay elements.

I'm a huge fan of roguelikes, so I take them pretty seriously, especially when they're good. This is an amazing tile based roguelike where every move / action is a "turn", and everyone / everything on the screen takes their turns at the same time. It's a bit archaic, but it works so incredibly well because everything is designed around this function. It's a game of learning the mechanics of every ability, weapon, item, and enemy, so that you can predict movements and attacks in order to strategically execute your battle plans, based on timing and positioning. I've had fights against powerful enemies with crazy weapons go on for 5 to 10 minutes, with lots of careful planning involved. After my first couple of runs I thought it seemed pretty basic despite being enjoyable, so I wasn't expecting long-term engagement. But once I got to the second area and saw how much more complex weapons and enemies could be, I realized there was a lot more depth and detail to the game than I thought. It's a bit of a slow drip, but it just keeps coming the longer you keep playing, and I'd prefer that to dumping everything too quick and leaving more to be desired very early on. It's pretty much as good as you could want a game like this to be, and doesn't feel at all hindered by the fact that it's a mobile game. I don't remember ever considering or feeling pressured to spend money, if there even is the option. It's a rare gem of a truly free experience that transcends the usual expectations. That said I think there is still a lot of untapped potential, despite the fact that what is there is amazing, just because the entire foundation they built is so intricate I feel like it leave the floor open for so many possibilities. But it seems like they update it a lot and have a lot of plans for it, and I think as long as they continue to do that it could solidify itself as one of the best experiences the genre has to offer.

Simply wonderful. Tough, but fair. Lots of little tricks and techniques to discover and master. Characters are highly customizable. This is a welcome alternative to the legendary Pixel Dungeon, different in many ways and more open-ended. EDIT: Sadly, the game's gotten needlessly more complicated & laborious over the past couple years. Instead of adding new areas to explore, the dev's added more and more items & enemies. This is perhaps welcome for hardcore gamers, but otherwise..

Dig ⛏️.. Die ☠️.. Learn 💡.. Repeat! 💫 10/10, Highly Recommend! Caves is everything a good game should be: Frustratingly challenging in all the right ways. Tons of enemies, weapons, & loot. Always something new to explore & discover. Flawless mechanics & excellent graphics. The unforgiving gameplay admittedly makes for a steep learning curve, but it also provides endless hours of replayability. Each run is the same, but completely different. Fans of rogue-likes will know exactly what I mean! 😉

All I can say is, WOW! For a free game the amount of detail and depth is insane! I tried this game last year and was utterly lost (starting can be very overwhelming!), but I re-downloadeded it recently and looked up some tips, and boy was I wrong to delete it. Give yourself some time to get used to the difficulty and mechanics, but overall it is a very fun/complex game, and it's all free!

I absolutely love this game. Ads aren't bad, you sometimes get an ad durring a loading screen between areas (which is basically after 15-30 minutes of exploring the map, and then if you feel like going to the next zone, a skippable ad is rewarding) and there are banner ads, but getting rid of both of these is super cheap. If you don't have much money, and are needing a mobile game to spend lots of time in and have a fun challenge in, this is the game for you. No paywalls either! <3

This genuinely is the most enjoyable free mobile game I've ever played. Everything about it is superb. No microtransactions, very minimal and unintrusive advertisements. Awesome retro graphics, fantastic sound effects and gameplay that just demands you keep playing. The number of different weapons, potions, equipment, etc. is glorious. I cannot recommend this game enough if you are into dungeon crawlers. There's no story or plot, just lots of exploring, fighting and looting. And thats ok!

I love this game, played it on my iOS phone years back and again on my android now. I can spend hours on this without noticing it on the weekends. I laughed so hard when I first got the item that summons the "mop-up squad" and used it only after an hour or so of play when I was new. This is one of those games that you have to learn the ropes to get very far, upgrades and items won't rescue you. But one thing I have to ask, Developer? 😅 my character and menu buttons are disappearing please help?

It was hard going in blind my first run, but on my second I finished the first area with 100% and even found a hidden gold cup by dumb luck with exploding blocks you cant mine. First run or two will be rough but once you get the hang of it it's extremely fun. Everytime I found a new building I was excited to see what was inside. Hopefully I can survive the second stage so I can portal to base. Will probably buy the ad free just to help support the dev even though the ads arent instrusive at all.

Ridiculously hard, in a variety of ways, considering i have it on normal and still can't even get half way through the first floor more than once out of 10 tries. Tempted to only give it 4 stars for that, but it's still a really good game if you can get past the rage inducing bits. Really well developed, great variety of *everything*, and pleasing visuals.

Nice roguelike, not many originals of its caliber anymore. It feels like Pixel Dungeon, but has its own textures and completely unique mechanics. Crashes after a death when I try to go to the smelter though, so I have no idea what it does. I have to assume it's a way to get rewarded for what you accomplished, which is detrimental to gameplay if it's broken for me.

The bestiary is an excelent feature. Very fun, very addictive, and playable offline. Gameplay never gets old with tons of weapons, armors, potions, enemies, and places to explore. It's not an easy game but that's what I admire about it. They also update the game frequently, fix bugs, and add new features and weapons. I suggest this game for those with a lot of patience and those who seek a challenge. This game is amazing.

One of the best apps out here. In a market filled with so many boring repeating games. Caves is one that shines put from the others. Its the most fun and strategic game ive played in forever. I already but 8 hours into this game and i will be putting in a lot more. Some feedback though: The game at first is a bit confusing and i was initially put off. A short tutorial showing how the game works and what to expect would be very helpful for new players. (unless there already is one, oops)

Amazing turn based dungeon crawler that rewards creativity! Expect to experiment to learn how the game works. It doesnt really hold your hand at the start. Caves are extremely dangerous. If you're losing a fight against an elite monster, run! You'll find better equipment to defeat them elsewhere. Eventually you'll clear your first level and it's so satisfying. Ads arent in your face and you're usually so engaged you dont notice the little banner when you pull out your inventory. Well done devs!

I've sunk well over 24 hours into this game and I still enjoy every minute and I'm not even a fan of turn based games. Even though the cave types just repeat it's nice that is has the random generation of the map so it's always different no matter what. I have it on easy and still struggle to get past even the second cave but the difficulty get you to use your brain to figure out what type of build for what armor class will work best for what you wanna do.

This, this is what I've been looking for. A quality roguelike with simple mechanics. Though, two things: The difficulty curve is incredibly steep. I'm on easy mode and can't get past area 3 due to the imps spawning overpowered skeletons, though, that in part might be my fault because I'm trying to start in area 3 rather than starting back in area 1. Also, the game is slightly unstable on my device (Samsung Galaxy J7 Sky Pro, Android 6.0.1), the game just lags for a moment before randomly exiting to my home screen. Thankfully, this game can be saved at any point, and features an autosave feature which makes these random crashes a bit less catastrophic. All in all an amazing mobile roguelike, but it still needs some tweaking and polish.

Hard, Engaging, and Rewarding - this game makes you work for improvements and makes you feel like each run is a scrape against the giant uphill battle that is this dungeon system. I haven't made it past floor 3, if I remember correctly. I love the level of challenge, I love the turn based system where everyone waits for you to move, and I love the clean pixel art with post processing style. A beautiful, well made game that I'm genuinely surprised is confined to the phone.

The best roguelike for mobile devices, by miles. The UI is perfectly adapted for touch screen, the presentation is suberb, and the gameplay is easy to pick up—but can go staggeringly deep. The available customizations (armors, abilities, difficulty modes) *radically* change the best way to play—but I've yet to find a combination that felt unfair (at least, not after learning enough about how things work). I'd gladly pay $20 for a build without beacons and ads + can start in airplane mode.

Still the overall best & deepest roguelike on the platform. Maybe the overall best game on the platform. Having said that, I can't usually get into it except for a few times once every year or so. There's almost too much to do for me to play this as just a pick up & play on break or on the toilet type of game. It's way more than that. But it's not a negative. Just not usually something I can put that much time into. I use the Space Grunts games for that. Specifically the second one.

Big baby rage skill issue incoming. Bro, what is the portal boss of the second area, the acid caves? Every time I get him low he 1 turn teleports away multiple spaces, then gives himself shields AND heals 94 hp the turn after. The action skill to get more actions is not working on him. Went in with good lvl/equip, and many items, used every last one and still lost. I am a long time roguelite player with dozens of games under my belt, I MUST be missing something. Everything else good.
