I've been using this app heavily this past week during my car search, & this is the worst update I've ever seen for an app. Trying to set search parameters is cumbersome. can't set a maximum mileage, only a minimum. who wants to set a minimum mileage? I can only see one car at a time instead of several, so much more scrolling. The option to see only new listings is gone. I can't view only the cars at my local store. I guess I won't be buying at Carmax. It's so unusable I uninstalled the app.

Works well, easy to use, and lots of filter options. My only two complaints are that it did not correctly save my search based on a specific monthly payment maximum (it began showing cars of all price ranges. I had to edit my search to instead include a maximum vehicle price) and, the app likes to show me cars similar to cars I've viewed (except the only similarity is the make and model: completely different year/generation, completely different price, features, specs, color, etc. )

This app is fine as long as your account NEVER has a hiccup. Used it just fine for years until Covid and I got a few fines and fees. They DO NOT automatically add those to your pay now option. They DO NOT "allocate funds to fees" automatically if you pay past a certain date, but they WILL take your whole car payment towards fees if you pay "too early" and shaft you with a late fee. The best, and honestly only, way to pay off fees correctly is over the phone with multiple calls. Good luck

My experience is horrible! I cannot use the app to shop for cars. It won't let me choose a location. When I can get it to search under the parameters I set, It says the car is unavailable and will only show me one picture. Most of the time, it won't even let me choose search options. Someone needs to loose their job for allowing this update to go live!

There are only a couple of things that keep the app from being a 5 star, but they are minor. However the app does an excellent job of presenting info. And lots of it. Make, model, trim level, basic specs, estimated payments, in depth mpg comparison tool, reviews, and tons more of very helpful stuff is all there. The ability to customize, save and get notified about a search is nice. There is no substitute for actual research, but the app proves to be an excellent starting point.

The app works very well except for one little issue. If i turn on notifications for a saved search, I can't later turn it back off. I keep getting notifications after I've gone to bed but the app won't save my settings. Every time i turn them off, they turn right back on. Very irritating. It will notify me numerous times about the same vehicle. I hope this gets corrected in an update.

I miss CarMax Users Plus. I liked that when I logged in, I would immediately see my car. This app makes you dig to see it. The old app let me take photos that stored information about my car. The new app doesn't. I could also keep track of when I needed services easily on the old app. I hate this app because it's still trying to sell cars instead of focusing on the car I bought. This is a poor substitute for an app that was almost perfect. I would give it no stars if it were possible.

The app does mostly what I want it too - everything from finding a car to making payments. Not to mention that the car-finding experience is fantastic. The attention to detail and the fact that there are often dozens of photos of the cars is a testament to the amount of work put into this app. However, many paths seem to dead end into "call us". A messaging system would be great!

Not Very Helpful: I expected to see all of the specifications and facts about the cars that I was interested in. Instead, all I found were photos. Aside from photos, a substantial portion of your screen will be obscured by a bright yellow band practically commanding you to schedule a test drive. I'm sorry, that's a sales move. And that appears to be it. "Look at the pretty pictures. Forget about the details, just rush right down and buy one of our cars."

Why'd. You Take Away Useful App Features??? You updated the app, but you take away the ability to compare vehicles. That was really helpful I don't understand why you would take it away. Another useful feature that you took away was the ability to do the 360 inside the vehicle and outside. This just makes no sense. It was a good app before and now it's just kind of mediocre.

I don't know what happened between the old version of the app and the new one, but the new version sucks. Keeps crashing, sluggish and slow. Also, the biggest change is removing the option to see 'how much you can afford'. No idea why they would remove that. Won't be using carmax in the future since now they are just like a normal dealership.

CarMax has a terrific car buying program but their app is, inexplicably, a disaster. Even with the best, high speed connection, the app freezes, takes an eternity to load a page, and constantly throws error messages. When selecting a listing to see more details, there is only one response: "Hmm...you found a technical error. We'll let our team know." My recommendation is to use the CarMax Web site and avoid this time-wasting app.

Uninstalled! Use the website instead; The new version of the app is TERRIBLE! The old app, prior to July 2023 was pretty good. It was fast, intuitive, and looked pretty good. The new version released in July 2023 is a flaming pile of garbage. It signs you out, takes FOREVER to load anything, is not particularly intuitive, contains less information, etc, etc, etc. There is absolutely no reason to use the app instead of the site, and I'm someone who almost always wants an app instead of a site.

Ever since the overhaul of this app it has become absolutely infuriating to try and pay every month. Payment source disappears and rarely decides to pull up, if you try to re-enter it it comes up with "technical error" more than likely because it's already recognized in the system. The old version was quick and easy and now it's just hair pulling to try and get anything accomplished as far as payments go. But hey, it looks nice.....

Being able to make a payment through the app is absolutely terrible! Every time I try to login it will push me to the CarMax website. It forces me to sign in and then enter an authorization code sent via text only to kick me back to the home screen of the app and shows I'm still not signed in and my session expired. It does this over and over again. They make the interface easier for you to browse shopping for new vehicles than keeping up with the information and accounting for owners.

Non-intuitve format and swipe controls are annoying and slow (since most recent update 2023). I like CarMax and I've always enjoyed searching for and saving my favorite potential purchases for the future. I love seeing horsepower/torque and the other vehicle specifications. Since the recent update to the app the entire interface has been changed to be uglier, slow to respond, buggy (showing vehicles that aren't available), and difficult swipe controls. Previous format was significantly better.

I really like the overall app, but since the last update the photo gallery on the vehicles is gone. I hate that!! I'm not going to request a transfer or buy a car without first seeing as many photos as possible on it, inside and outside!!! So I would've given a 5 star rating, but now it's a 3 star rating!! I'm changing my rating to 1 * and deleting the app. We can no longer look at photos of the inside and outside of the vehicles and decide if we like them enough to request a transfer or not or make an appointment to go view them or test drive them, unless we request a transfer prior to making our minds up on the vehicle first. This is stupid, ridiculous, and I feel it's unprofessional on your part. I was going to purchase a car through you guys but if I can't decide what I like before requesting a car transfer, because I can't see the vehicle prior to doing so, then this is worthless.

Updated app is touchy. The types of vehicles filter is reduced. You can no longer search for all hybrid or electric vehicles. The milage filter is broken. The app only allows you to set the minimum mileage. It does not have sliders to set a range. I'm not sure what's in their next sprint, but it needs to include a number of defect corrections. EDIT: Can you no longer compare vehicles?!?

The app is ENTIRELY unusable. It doesn't matter how many times I log in because I can't save a single thing. It immediately asks me to log in again. WHY?! I'M ALREADY LOGGED IN. Then, when I log in again, it suddenly logs me out after having been logged in successfully. Absolutely useless app. Moving on to another car sales app that might actually want to make money. RIDICULOUS.

Why would you make an app where you cannot autorotate the pictures and look at the cars in the full screen of the phone. In this day of technology, I should be able to inspect every inch of the vehicle in the picture without having to squint and struggle to see the cars. It is absolutely annoying and half the time I quit looking cause your app makes me so upset. You need to correct this today immediately. Simple fix. Make the pictures rotate with the phone and go full screen.
