It worked about as expected. Although, I won't be renewing my subscription. Learned to use the free NCS Expert with a $20 D+KAN cable and can customize every module easily. Considering what someone pays for the Carly adapter, expecting a yearly app fee is overboard. I could justify a one time app fee. After learning NCS, Carly is never used.

The app itself is ok, provides good info about your car but slow processing. Subscription? First-timers get the device come from Germany, which can be ok in terms of price point, but... they expect you to pay the same amount every year. Not acceptable, cancelled right away. Now I have a junk obd scanner device which I paid over $100.

I've purchased this app (Pro for BMW) and device (Gen 2) 2017 and besides the rare connection issues, it worked great. Since I paid for Pro I could change settings and run diagnostics. Since the recent updates, it is a pain to connect even with the online help (1 1/2 hours). And then once it connected shock and horror to find out you now have to pay a yearly subscription just to run diagnostics! Why?! To me this app and device is no longer worth it. Will be looking for another app and device :-(

Needlessly (no matter what the developer excuse is) requires an account. It's a ploy to harvest personal information. Further, the demo capabilities of the app oversell compatibility with adapters. In my case, I verified that I could communicate with the ECUs of interest in my vehicle with my dongle, bought the app, and then found that I couldn't write my changes. And in fact I could no longer read the ECU either. Helpfully I was presented a screen to buy another dongle, this time from the software authors themselves. The whole thing is a giant scam and should be shut down by Google.

The app is not very bad, but also not good. I got an E39 540i 2003 and an E46 330i 2004. Coding is fine, for Functions as much the car is able to. But a lot of things doesn't work correct. - I can't reset engine lights - I can't reset things like transmission parameters, wheel angle sensor, ABS/DSC Moduls, or Airbags. Since I replaced 1 light module on E46 carly says that my BMW is manipulated! As long I got Carly (10/18) for BMW they say that they are workin on it. Not good for older BMWs.

Disappointed!! I had high hopes for this app and scanner. Hoping it would offer me and my bmw what we would need to feel better about the natural aging process of being a bmw owner. Sadly it did not, live data was wildly inaccurate, and sometimes you only get 1 chance to make a 1st impression. Lost my trust outta the gate and unlikely to get it back. App is designed to look good, but it feels incomplete as i navigate through it and Coding descriptions are clear as mud, sadly. Its unfortunate!!

Bought Carly a while back with USB adapter. I went the extra mile and purchased lifetime updates and all....NOW, Carly has decided to do away with USB adapters and gave no warning to current users. They want another $80 for something, I already bought and was happy with. Very disappointed in their obvious scheme to force additional purchase. I'll be using another app from now on...Thanks for nothing Carly !!!

Wasted my time. As usual there is a charge for the "pro" version, but you"ll get to waste you're time too, unless you're reading my review prior to downloading it, but for most you'll get the joy of finding out after and the need to uninstall and look for a different app. Sidenote: This app instantly knew what the type and year of my vehicle is, but now it can't connect to my OBD2 BT device because it isn't compatible? Then make it compatible. It works with Bimmercode/link!

Not really that great. It works when it's working. I notice all the no connection problems started with the app update. No problem with the old one. When I use the new update it didn't work. Tech support is pretty good they sent me a new obd adapter and that fixed it. Now I am going to use a third time and no connection again. Tried the usual fix uninstall and reinstall the app but now it won't reinstall!?!? I tried all day and it just keep saying downloading on the app store!??!

Very intermittent to connect so I need to set aside about 3 hours to connect. Sometimes connect after 3 or 4 tries other times will not connect after 30-35 tries. Does not always take a code. Recent updates did not help. I am updating from 1 to 4 stars. It seems my connection issuesare no longer and it is now connecting reliably. I have always liked the interface and now have 0 issues (fingers crossed). Support has tried to help on several occasions and they were prompt and courteous.

I own an Autel BT OBD2 adapter. Buddy of mine said, "Carly is generations above any scanner". So, I got Carly universal scanner, got the app, unlocked all licenses, and this thing is garbage. Live data for my f150 is NOT real time. It's a snapshot of an "in the moment" data of a system. Also, no matter what module I select, it opens the same screen. 85% of the live data is N/A. IF this thing is user friendly, you ain't gonna find it right out of the box.

Total waste of money. I spent over $150 for the scanner and license. No idea why anyone speaks highly of this. Had more features and insight running my other adapter and Bimmer apps or Torque Pro or Car Scanner Pro. Not to mention the option to run whichever I chose at any given time. All total that cost me under $100. For the adapter and all apps combined. THAT was worth every cent. This is absolutely isn't. And bc they know it's trash they will not refund anything bought on their site. Scam!

Requires subscription. Bought the Pro version but still can't upgrade to the latest. Good for Mechanic but for individuals subscription is expensive. Have GPA number but won't accept it. Thanks for responding. While I understand your point, I believe the subscription amount is too highe if you do not use often. I don't mind paying $30 annually even if I don't use it often, but $82 is a bit much. Discount for those who have GPA.3380-6038-....that are not working?? Just a thought. Added STAR

This is just Torque re-badged with less options and a $100 proprietary adapter with sketchy connectivity. The site promises a buffet of info and tweeks for your car that in some cases are not even supported by Carly. And if they are supported, you can do nothing with them or even get their details until you spend ANOTHER $70 on top of the $100 you just spent for the adapter. Remember that free program you got that promised to optimize your computer? and after you ran it and it said 'we found x amount of things that we can fix' but didnt tell you what they were until you paid full price for the program? That's what Carly is, even AFTER paying $100 for the initial product. The Carly app even says that some of it's abilities are not available for your car when you tap them. and links you to 3rd party products on Amazon. Seems to me this database of can/can't per car model should be on their website BEFORE you purchase the device. I mean.. it's in the APP.. but you dont know till you tap a function. And this is without even MENTIONING that I have 3 android devices and the adapter only shows up/connects on one of them. And on the one (Samsung Note8) every time you switch menus in the Carly App, you have to reconnect to the Carly Adapter.. That's what I get for the $100 adapter? I am still debating whether or not to pay the REQUIRED additional $70 (per year) for the 'unlocked' account just to see IF the other functions and promised capabilities are available for my car. But right now? 1 star, because 0 is not a selection. Edit. And per the manufacturer response below, No on all 3 counts. apparently they would rather say dumb customer than poor business model.

***UPDATE: Issue has been resolved. Rating adjusted accordingly. Thank you for taking care of the problem! ** Purchased the full version several years ago. Updated to the new version and attempted the migration as instructed on the their website to no avail. Contacted Carly to get this resolved and received no response. The app is now completely useless. $60 wasted.

Stop adding pay walls and making everything unnecessarily complicated. I bought this app a few years ago. Everything was great and worked phenomenally. Then they moved to subscription (grandfathered but still a hassle). Then they "eliminated" support for USB cables (there but a hassle to access) and want you to buy their expensive adapter... Fine except the adapter can only be used with Carly (not things like Torque. Then they keep moving features behind additional pay walls and making everythi

The app was ok for my Bimmer - some coding possible. Good for someone like me with limited experience. Useless for my Ford Edge. Bought the full version, and I get to download some reports. Wow. Reports my mechanic would never need or use. Useless to me now. Forgot about the subscription. Renewed this morning because they don't send a reminder. Requested a refund 10 minutes later. Of course, got the old "You agreed to No Refund policy when you purchased - Sorry". No more business from me.

Update 2024. Auto-renew happened again! Google wont help you. DONT BUY. Auto-renew charges. I think they hope you won't catch it. The app itself is okay, but at what cost!? This is the second time I had auto-renew enabled (not by me) after I downloaded the app. Since I had this happen before, and I was selling the car, I made sure not to have auto-renew, but here we are. I got charged again a year later. You'll have to jump through hoops to get your money back. Never again.

Get a real scanner for nearly the same price more save yourself the headache of dealing with this app. 1 star until the forced updates stop. I'm so sick of trying to troubleshoot a problem and having to waste 10 minutes updating and/or upgrading (if I'm lucky enough to have service, if I don't, I'm SOL) because "your current version is no longer valid". Completely unacceptable for a $60 app. Also does not work without an Internet connection, another absolute no-go for a diagnostic app.

Very good app when you are dealing with a car that has constant problems this scanner app helps any user diagnose it for you. the only problem about this app is that it needs a way to contact support via video or phone support easily and fast so that users can have support when things are not working.
