NFC Connectivity Canon 80D I have to echo other user's frustration at this app. All worked relatively smoothly: I could connect my phone, use it to control my camera for group shots, review and edit pictures with ease, etc. But then Canon revoked the ability to easily connect and what was once a cool, time-saving feature is now just a headache. The app is pointless unless it can connect to the camera, which it cannot. Please reinstate NFC functionality for the app.

For what this app currently does, it's flawless. Easy Bluetooth connection and full control from my phone - brilliant. However, it gets 3 stars because there should be absolutely no reason why we cannot transfer full resolution RAW files. Currently, it will only transfer reduced/compressed JPEG if you shoot only RAW and the full resolution JPEG if you shoot RAW+JPEG. It is impossible to transfer the RAW file. This is a huge downside. Practically every modern phone can shoot in RAW. Every leading photo editing app for phones (Snapseed, Lightroom, et al) can edit RAW. There should be absolutely no reason why this app can't transfer RAW. If this is a download speed issue, I guarantee that no one would have an issue with waiting an extra few seconds for their full res RAW file to download. Canon, add RAW support/transfer to this app! It's 2018!!

Used to be great. The update ruined it!! I'd give 0 stars now. It will no longer connect, even though it should be connected. I follow all of the steps, it refuses to connect. It never takes me off of the "easy connection" page, and doesn't take me to the next step. I have to click the x, to which it then informs me that it isn't connected and I need to open the connection guide, even though the camera is connected to my wifi. I am severely disappointed! Please fix this!!!

I forgo the need of a computer and card reader because I can send photos directly to my phone and edit .jpg images with processing software apps. Just a little tricky to set up in the beginning but once you are able to connect (which REQUIRES your phone's location setting to be ON), you are viewing, selecting, and downloading pictures to your phone from your phone as it is hooked up to the camera, or from the camera itself. You cannot send raw format for some reason. No information is given regarding this massive inconvenience.

It used to work.. all of a sudden my camera can't pair via Bluetooth even though my camera is paired with my phone. It keeps saying pairing failed. I unpaired the camera to my phone, repair it, and still cannot pair it through the app. Super frustrating. I uninstalled the app, deleted the camera information from my phone, re-register the camera. Nothings working. I don't want to use Wi-Fi as the connection isn't strong enough and when I do, I have to do it everytime my screen turns off.

Seriously flawed. To connect to the camera using Bluetooth, you have to be able to connect to a wi-fi network? How is that helpful in most situations that I would want to use my smartphone to take a photo? Even then, it works sometimes...connect, take a shot, reconnect...repeat. when it works, it's awesome, but I'm afraid the connection issues will make me miss shots. Going with a simple remote instead.

Bluetooth connection issues. If you can't connect via Bluetooth workaround I found is to go to advanced connection settings on the camera and create a network, connect phone to that SSID and then open the app on your phone. There's some kind of security feature in an android update that seems to block the phone form connecting to a WiFi network when the call to do so is received via Bluetooth so manual connection is the only option but the option is a bit too buried in the menus I think.

Not sure what the point of the app is if the only way I can transfer photos is plugging in a USBC to USBC cable since I could just use my phone's folder browser. Nothing I do allows travel of photos or remote control due to constant disconnects. Tried on Pixel 8 pro and an iPad and nothing works for transfers. Shame because it seems like it would be convenient.

This app used to be good. Now it's pure garbage. You can do every single step perfectly to connect your phone to your camera, but the moment you need to register it on the app, it does not finalize the connection. I've tried 3 different ways and my phone would be on the same wifi as the camera but the app will still not recognize it.

Been using for a couple years and have always had to connect the camera and phone to the same WiFi network to be able to transfer photos to my phone. Now all of a sudden, I get an error on the camera that there are "Incorrect WiFi Security Settings". Nothing has been changed and my phone is connected to the same WiFi I always use. I'm being forced to connect to "the camera's WiFi" which is inconvenient and dodgy.

Good app for remote shooting. Very comprehensive and allows me to import all relavant data to my tablet. I love long shutter, night photography, so it's more convenient than a physical remote trigger. However, it could be more user friendly. Some of the "helpful" menus read like stereo instructions, but as soon as you connect a few times, it becomes a breeze.

I am having the same pairing through Bluetooth issue. I enjoyed that. I could pair it this way and download my pictures wherever I was and all of a sudden it can no longer connect and searches for a " faster Wi-Fi connection". I have tried all the deleting the app and reinstalling, resetting the communications, etc. and cannot get a direct connect through Bluetooth. I used to be very happy with this app but now I'm finding it very frustrating and upsetting.

This app used to work great, but it's been almost completely useless for months now. The only way I can get it to work is if I can connect my camera and my phone to the same wifi network. Even then, the signal has to be better than perfect for it to work. I have updated the camera's firmware and uninstalled and reinstalled the app and still nothing. My camera ostensibly has its own wifi, but the app will not, under any circumstances connect to it anymore.

4.5 Stars How?!?!!! Used to be wonderful and easy to use! Import at home or in the field wirelessly. Granted it was slow but convenient. Now?! 2024? It's a freaking joke! It doesn't load and customer service if you get a response treats you like your stupid and that there isn't an issue with the app. Don't even bother. Use the old school plug the memory card into a computer/ card reader and import. Agreed with others, other companies are looking better if canon can't help their customers.

It's probably the most frustrating, inconsistent, and maddening app I've ever used. But it's pretty much necessary if I want to send photos directly to my phone from my camera. So I use it. I just wish I didn't have to jump through hoops to make it work sometimes. I also wish the importing process didn't take an actual hour for about 50 photos.

Utterly disappointed. This app worked on my 6D Mark II. I bought an R8 and it will not connect at all. I called customer service, we walked through their steps and they couldn't figure it out. This seems to be a known issue, but to date, Canon seems indifferent and unresponsive. I hope they can sort this out soon.

Simply will not connect to my Canon Rebel T6, wifi or NFC. I have tried numerous troubleshooting steps, nothing works. I have updated my camera to the latest firmware, cleared data on phone and camera, reinstalled app, tried turning off adaptive connectivity, literally nothing works. I can connect to the camera's WiFi just fine, the app simply doesn't recognize the camera. Using NFC, the phone recognizes the camera's NFC but the camera and app don't respond. Not functioning.

Works well enough wirelessly. Two feature requests: when remote shooting, allow for Burst shots so I can take portraits without the awkwardness of looking down at my phone to click the shutter... Or, make the shirt button much larger so I can hit it without looking. Also, can't seem to pair camera to more than one Device for transferring and control. Would be awesome to do so

4/22/24 Can open the app, but afterwards everything crashes. if you don't have a connection to your camera first, and select the Wi-Fi button, the app will force quit. if you skip that and get a connection, you can load your first three images, and then the app will force quit. I am unable to access anything on my camera. pretty upset since it was a photoshoot and can't access a customers photos

It stopped connecting and now it's just a useless nightmare. Worked fine, albeit very clunky and buggy, until recently. Now the app isn't even recognized. Uninstalled, reinstalled, made new network connections...still doesn't work. Communication between app and camera does not work. I'm sick of being frustrated by it all and if I could set a match to it I would. Despite being loyal to Canon for 30 years, Nikon is looking like the better choice. I see other reviews with same issue and 0 response.
