5/14/24: I deleted and reinstalled the app and nothing has changed. This type of intrusive advertising is not good for your image or for the advertiser's. I'm not the only person who becomes irate when I am interrupted by ads that my only motivation is to close and continue my process. Some ads are moving the close button so we have to search for them. Others are even putting fake X buttons that open the ad instead of closing it. I will NEVER buy from a company that uses deceptive practice.

I used to love this app, I used the free version but the ads have gotten beyond intrusive. You will be in the middle of typing in your food to log and a full page ad will pop up cause you to click the dang thing. Then you have to go back IF it will let you go back without freezing. Ads used to be after you logged NOT during. This is ridiculous.

Just too minimal overall. I don't like that this app chooses for me how many calories I can have for each meal w/o any option of changing it. Also, very limited choices of apps you can link to automatically track your progress. I paid for the app but it's still too minimal. It also, (once I've paid) wants me to "upgrade/ pay" again for more features.....why? Also, after canceling my subscription which I purchased just 2 wks ago, they are refunding ZERO $. This app s*cks. Glad I canceled.

Ensh!tification is so real with this one. When I first started using this app it was amazing. Seamless. Easy to use. Had a ton of features. In the span of like 2 years it has turned into complete poop. They've paywalled barcode scanning, removed other features completely, made it infinitely harder to create recipes without subscribing to premium and infested this thing with annoying ads. On top of that premium is $40... Annually!! Lmao who in the world is paying that?

I used this app (free version) over the years on and off. This time, they want money for the barcode scanner. I will never pay a subscription for an app. Maybe a one-time fee of 2 dollars or something (to get the scanner and basic app) but subscriptions are against my app philosophy. No thanks. I'll go somewhere else. Another customer lost!

I began using this app after MyFitnessPal started charging for basic features. While this app has been a replacement for basic needs, it still has plenty of problems. They force you to make an account before you can use the it and the layout for the meal categories (breakfast, lunch, etc) cannot be changed. I don't care about categorizing my food, I just want to track my calories. The worst part is the placement of the ads in the worst places possible, making it annoying to access certain parts.

I was trying to decide between this and another free calorie app (netdiary). I kind of liked this one better, until the full page ads started popping up when I was right in the middle of logging meals. I understand having ads in a free app, but do they really need to be full page, comletely interrupting app use? Whenever I tried to "X" out of the full page ads the app would freeze, so I would close it out and when I went back whatever I was in the process of logging was lost. Frustrating!

There are so many ads that using this app is intolerable, every single entry invokes an extremely annoying ad. The need to have an occasional ad is understood, however, it is entirely unnecessary to have an ad for every SINGLE ENTRY!!!! what have you done? I can't even add an entry without a pop up and redirect that will not close!! shame I have had this app for years now I have to uninstall it. shameful!!!!

Correction... I usrd to love this app. I've had this app for years and it helped me with my goals for a moment, but man, ohhow they changed and trying to swipe every dollar for you to do anything on this app. The scanning feature was one of my favorites because you could scan anything. They changed it, so you have to pay to scan or type it all in manually. The other feature I liked was the challenges, but they took those away and want you to upgrade to premium. So basically, it wants your money

I have been using this app for a decade. More than a decade actually. Since 2010. It has always been a fantastic app. I always highly reccomended it. Now, every time I open the app a delayed pop up ad shows up. Every single time. It'd be cool if it happened like once, but its every time you open the app.... on an app that tracks food and exercise (so you will naturally be opening it multiple times a day). I'm really disappointed in them for this. It was never like this for over a decade.

I've had Lose It for years but in the last few months they have increased the number if pop ups and ads to the point where every click you get a new ad. Not only that, but now they are taking previously free features (barcode scanner) and locking them behind a pay wall. I understand that apps need to make a profit, but at this point it's just greed. I would have been more likely to buy membership if they were developing new advanced features, but taking free features is ridiculous.

This app used to be one of the top weight loss apps you can get. It had a lot of features that were free and they didn't bug you to upgrade to the lifetime all the time. Recently decided to get back on to lose some weight but the app bare Bones does just the bare minimum of keeping track of calories. Also the database need some work, if you look something up you'll have to dig through the many many entries to verify you're logging the correct item. Also would be nice to have recipes.

I've had to edit my original review. "This app is easy to use and add food and exercise. I only wish I could sync it to my sports tracker account. So happy they put the reps back." A lot of this is true and it helped me to get to where I wanted to be. Here is where it has lost stars: They have moved some of the previously free features behind the pay wall. I can no longer scan food in. The heat maps are a thing of the past. It doesn't allow me to sync my fitbit. Disappointing.

I've tried several tracking apps & I like this one a lot. I like the way it gives you options for caloric intake & then splits up your calorie allowance throughout the day. You can also track your fat, protein, & carb macros. So far, every food that I have looked up has been in the system, but it lets you create meals & add foods that are missing. Much less expensive than noom, but doesn't have all the cognitive behavioral therapy components which may be a pro or a con depending on your needs.

It has been hard for me to start getting on track with my health and diet. I have tried other popular calorie counters, and while they do the same thing, Lose It has been so much easier to use, and I am finding success! The app has many helpful functions, but I appreciate how it helped me create a goal that is tailored for me and my goals. This tailored goal took in more information, like if I wanted a little more wiggle room on the weekends or if I wanted to include intermittent fasting.

Recently the updates have pushed super intrusive ads. It's too the point where anytime I add a food or meal I get a full screen and with sound. Because of this I've started looking at other tracking apps after using this for 3 years. Edit: After years of use I've moved to a new app. Barcode scanning moved to being a paid feature, ads after every action in the app and constant issues saving data. The free features are barely functional.

I am not a fan of calorie counting but this app does so much more and really makes it easy to see how and where your calorie choices make or break your weight goals. I especially like the chart displaying carb, protein, fat percentages of my daily calories and the motivational display of my weight loss progress. Weight loss support abounds in this app which takes the best of other programs and makes them easier to follow.

The app was recommended by my doctor based on his own weight loss journey. It is the BEST app of it's kind I have ever tried. As a software professional I appreciate it ease of use, it's huge database of foods, receipes, and products, and it's easy ability to either import receipes aor build your own. It is a game changer for serious lifestyle change.

The app has gotten worse. Everything is locked behind a subscription now. Furthermore, the app straight lies to you to get you to buy the subscription. IT DOES NOT LINK TO FITBIT. All it does is track steps and calorie goals, something Fitbit already does. It does not sync food, or calorie intake, like it claims to when you try to set it up. What a shame. I loved this app, but it's just turned into a scummy, overpriced scam

My doctor recommended Lose It, and I wasn't terribly enthusiastic because counting calories has never been my thing. When I realized that the app also kept track of protein, fat, carbs and a variety of other things of interest to a variety of people, I was sold. Lose It interacts with my fitness app, and it has an extensive encyclopedia of foods using specific brands as well as generic foods. It is a very conscious way of eating that allows the user to customize their strategy. I love it! Judy
