- Healthy foods from WIC approved grocery stores such as fruits and vegetables, whole grains, milk, eggs, bread, cereal, juice, peanut butter, soy milk, tofu and much more.
Participants must meet income guidelines and be:
- A pregnant woman
- A woman breastfeeding a baby under 1 year of age
- A woman who had a baby in the past 6 months
- Have an infant(s) up to their first birthday
- Have a child(ren) up to their fifth birthday
In California, 83 WIC agencies provide services locally to about 1.16 million participants each month at over 600 sites throughout the state. In accordance with Federal law and U.S. Department of Agriculture policy, WIC is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability.
The California WIC App will give WIC participants the opportunity to view upcoming appointments, view food benefits that have been issued to them in the clinic, scan UPCs while shopping at the store to see if the UPC is a WIC Approved item or not, and provide information on locations of WIC Stores and WIC Clinics across the State of California. The goal of the California WIC App is to give participants all the information they need at their fingertips to make their shopping experience fun and easy.

This is the worst app ever created!!! It doesn't accept your information even though it's been confirmed as correct. It took forever just to get registered and then it still kept telling me "incorrect WIC information". I have to keep trying to change my password and it doesn't accept any one that I choose. I really hate this app and this new WIC card. They should not have changed to these stupid WIC cards. And the app needs a lot of work. This is so frustrating!!! They old way was better!!!

Edit: I emailed them directly over the food scanner and provided the necessary information. It has sense been fixed. If you're having this same issues, email them! I've been unable to use the food scan to check if foods are wic eligible for months now. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app multiple times hoping it'd help and it hasn't.

Use to work great but now it's constantly crashing. As soon as I click the app it crashes and closes on me. Now that paper vouchers have been phased out, we rely so much on this wic app to access and process our benefits. The developers need to be on top of this since it's so crucial to the entire WIC program and the access to it.

I used to really like and depend on this app. It helped me out a lot, especially with the barcode scan, at my local Walmart since they don't mark their WIC products properly. However, the barcode scan hasn't been working for about 3 months now. It is very frustrating!

Downloaded this to help my daughter scan items. It sucked before with focusing issues and always logging out. Updated this morning and it doesn't work at all. Takes too long scanning items, doesn't focus (you have to practically hold it arms length away), and everything I scanned said it wasn't approved. Even with wic items at home, it said that. I don't have the time or patience to stand there waiting or go to different stores.

Its a nice app. It shows you what you need, what you have, and what you have used. A lot faster rather than waiting for check to be scanned and signed. The issue with this app is that it is to slow also even if you follow guidelines, for products you need at the register it will not be scanned or/ and be applied for some reason and pay out of pocket or leave it. Things need to be updated on the wic side.I had transaction issues x3 at walmart x1 at reileys. Wic is closed because of covid-19 so...

I did like the app that was helping me keep on check of my balance. However, recently I've been having trouble logging into my account. It gives me an error message saying, "Invalid password." I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app and I'm still having the same issue. For the moment I will give it a once star because I'm unable to view my balance. once this issue is solved and everything is working correctly I will change my review. Hopefully this issue is solve soon.

This app needs a real update BAD! The scanning is so slow, the benefits layout is a mess and should show more clearly when a benefits have been used. This seems like an early 2000 version of an app and not what it should be today. There is alot of potential just bad execution.

Freezing 10 out of 10 times. Say wrong username and password everytime. If you want to login, you have to register again and it sign you in. After you turn off the app, it requires to login again, and the info you just use to register doesn't work. Useless app.

The past few months it has not allowed me to load how much food is available and I end up guestimating on what I have left It's annoying

This app sucks! It's frustrating having to play with the app a little to see if the images appear on the food balance. I'd give it 0 stars as the app is helpless.

Great app you can view your appointments, food balance and more details on the foods allowed. The App was working properly but one day the wic food scan camera started malfunctioning. Now the camera never focuses, its always blurry, now it's useless. I checked if maybe it was my phones camera but it works perfectly. That's the reason for three stars only. Once it's fixed I'll update my review.

Great app if it works when I click food balance to see what I have availible it says no benefits and error and logs me out. When I call the number on the back on the card it tells me there are available benefits. It's frustrating that I can't find a way to report the issue. I've deleted the app even told my caseworker. I don't understand why it works perfectly fine for some and terribly for others. My phone is only a year or so old as well, it's updated and so it the app.

I have downloaded and deleted the app already and still can't even register my account. It keeps saying "Invalid WIC information". I was super excited once I heard this was the direction for accessing WIC and I absolutely hate that it doesn't work the way it was intended. Maybe once I'm able to register my account I will have a better experience, BUT FOR NOW I FEEL IT'S TERRIBLE!!!

The Wic food scan option doesn't work properly. Very inconvenient when you need it to check items at stores where they don't have the wic labels printed. Issue wasn't a problem when I first downloaded the app, it's been ongoing even after deleting & downloading the app. There's no one to help fix this. I've spoken with multiple wic Representatives & and the issue is still ongoing. Also when viewing benefit amount you have to keep exiting in order to go back and fourth each benefit amount.

Its okay to just to keep up with your balance but the main feature that is supposed to make this app worth the time to download is that you can scan items to see if a particular item is covered. It was so useful (WHEN IT WORKED) especially when you just let those small details slip on by; it ends up costing you when it shouldn't. I've tried deleting and reinstalling the app multiple times and its never fixed itself. I'll keep it to check my balance but it's main convenience is gone

The app is always crashing. Lately it won't even let me sign in without an error message popping up. And when you can sign in, the balance isn't always shown correctly. So at the register, you either pay out of pocket for the items you thought were covered, or you leave them. This is frustrating because I rely on the app to keep my balance up to date to shop accordingly.

For the past few updates, it works perfectly... except for not showing me my current remaining food balance in each category. It used to be so helpful when I was shopping but now other than the scanner, it's not helpful at all. And I like to plan how much and how often I buy things. It's harder to balance my food budget when this app isn't working correctly.
