The concept is great but the app itself is very buggy (I'm begging you to remove the markup tags in your answer explanations). Like I LOVE the concept of this and I think if you fixed your bugs it would A+. The notification bell is never accurate. Sometimes my corrections aren't shown until I refresh. The green correction text doesn't always show when you edit. Corrections tab doesn't show all of them. Also, the amount of time it takes for pages to load seems way too long.

This app seems to be great for Feench. The Spanish content, however is inconsistent. Many lessons have no English explanation or translations. Some do, some don't. Some test skills that haven't been properly explained or demonstrated. In the same course, some lessons are well-executed and easy to understand, while others are very difficult. I can't speak to other languages. The feature of having students who speak the target languages correcting select exercises is good.

The adds are obnoxious, but they always have deals for the subscription and it's definitely worth it to take advantage. The lessons are practical, explain the why behind the grammar (unlike Duolingo), and allows you to review vocabulary and grammar that you've already learned (it keeps it in a separate tab for you). One thing I would like to see improved upon in the future is the amount of time spend on certain topics. Sometimes I think the lessons could be stretched out into more sessions.

I really like this app, but it has a couple of major drawbacks. I'm constantly losing my streak despite daily app use. I guess the clock resets after 24 hours, which means you have to complete your lessons earlier & earlier in order to keep your streak. It's demotivating. Also, the progress bar in each lesson isn't indicative of how close you are to the lesson's end. In my last lesson, I had to complete 3 different segments (3 progress bars) before actually finishing. Makes time management hard.

i love this app loads, duolingo but better. short repetitive lessons that thoroughly explain everything, real people for the audios, and it teaches it in a good order at a good pace. it does prompt you to buy the subscription version often, but the free version is probably the best i've seen of any language app. it still gives you the same thorough lessons, but the premium version does have things like vocab + grammar practice that would help loads as well. i highly recommend it! :)👍

Let me start off by saying, thank you for this app, it's helping way more than duilingo ever has. As someone who is a beginner in studying other languages, specifically Italian, I frequently review earlier lessons. Everytime I complete a lesson, the page refreshes right back to my "current lessons" and have to scroll so far up just to get back to the earlier lessons I am learning. It would be convenient if there was a better way to access my lessons, either a scroll bar or categorized section

Too many things wrong with this app. I start off with the Russian lesson. To a new person starting the lesson, it makes no sense. You would have to know some Russian to even begin. On audio questions when you have to speak, it will always say your correct, even if you've said something else entirely. You could hum it and it still goes through like you passed. Also, when you have to type, I used a Russian keyboard and still got it wrong. This app needs a whole lot of work. Duolingo was soo better

Fine until you get to a2 chapter 6, then the course uses vocabulary and grammar far beyond what they have taught. It feels unhelpful and disappointing. What's funny is that in chapter 4 it was introducing ser and estar, which are early beginner concepts, making the extreme leap in difficulty even more dissonant.

The context is well, and I can see someone going to different Countries and displaying their new studied languages from this app.. that's the biggest test for ANYONE of any nationality. I honestly can't differentiate if it's actually how the people communicate, or just a text book version. That's my biggest ultimatum when dealing with this app. I already give it an 8/10. It may bump a couple notches.

So far, I've found that I've learned more than I have on other language learning apps out there. I like that despite the premium membership being pushed on us, it's not a requirement to use the app. Also, I adore the social feature, where we can help others learn the languages we speak fluently. Very enjoyable to use, and doesn't feel as anxiety inducing as other apps.

For the first couple of weeks, this was great! It explained things that Duo didn't. But now it's skipping ahead and quizzing me on things I have no way of knowing. (Example: it just taught me new words in hiragana, but the quiz uses entirely kanji.) I've used the "report issue" button numerous times, but there's simply no way to advance. (Re: developer response: there's nothing more to tell. If I was taught the word in hiragana, that doesn't help me guess the kanji.)

It's okay - unique social aspects and app was great for the Complete Chinese course A1 beginner level. But the next level (elementary a2) is a very difficult jump. They start using only hanzi with words & phrases that weren't taught & I'm struggling to complete exercises. Needs option to see pinyin beneath the hanzi. So, app is fine for basic Chinese, but you're better off finding an app specific to the language. I find the post-beginner lessons and overall app design limiting.

So happy someone recommend this app for learning German!! Duolingo had dumbed their lessons down so badly, it was mind numbing. I have been using Busuu for 2-3 months now and I love it. So, I hope they know they have a good product and don't "fix" anything as it's Not broken. 🙂 I learn by having to write/type things out and the grammar and vocabulary lessons on here are great and so necessary to learning a new language. Much love to Busuu, keep up the good work!

This app has many issues, and is in my opinion a very poor teacher. I'm learning LATAM Spanish. The app defaults to Spain Spanish and hides latam Spanish. It also asks a lot of academic questions that are not useful nor conducive to learning to speak read or write a language, and does not spend enough time on new words or concepts for you to fully grasp them. I was pleased initially by the videos of people speaking, but about 8% in (according to the app) they all became pictures with TTS.

the content itself is pretty great ! ive been absorbing lessons well unlike with other apps i have tried in the past. however, the app is VERY, VERY excessive about pushing premium onto free users. i understand y'all gotta make money somehow, and i would not mind it if it were every so often, but it is legitimately before and after every. single. lesson. also, sometimes, i will have lessons crash mid-exercise, and i have to start them over from the top. i do still enjoy this app lots, though !

Lots of great real world examples, practical vocabulary (no rhinoscheroses here), real native speakers. There are a few bugs in the app - when I try to go to "review lesson" it goes to the loading screen "preparing your review" and I can hear the speaker start the lesson, but the lesson doesn't load on the screen - it just stays stuck on the "preparing your review" screen. Update: uninstalled, reinstalled, still have the same issue with review lessons not loading.

Threw things at me too quickly and randomly became too hard for me. I end up having to retake the lessons a bunch or not even trying until the end-of-unit review. Ads (usually unskippable) occur every 2 seconds and happen more often as you advance. I get you need profit, but it's boring and repetitive. The only thing I like is, unlike Duolingo, it teaches more practical things to learn as a beginner. For example: common phrases, questions, greetings, goodbyes, etc.

I really like how this app explains grammar rules, makes you spell the words out, and challenges you with similar options for multiple choice. It has a vocabulary bank that you can refer back to! I love that you can connect and get feedback from a native speaker quickly, and help others learning your language too. The app is a little slow to load up, but that is my only complaint.

It has its ups and downs. I like the writing exercises it helps me use the language, but it feels like it's laking content. I gave 1 star because it's so glitching, like It keeps deleting my progress and sometimes the ui completly changes to what it was when I had the app a year or so ago where there are lessons that are completly missing. Then it will randomly go back to the updated look. Also sometimes I complete a lesson and it doesnt even count it. Edit: Haven't seen issued listed 👍

pretty expensive for sub and some features, like reviewing words, don't workb it always gives me the same words to review and just brings up all saved words when clicking on weak, strong, etc. I even had trouble when I tried to sign up for a trial and then pay for a sub. Additionally, there are no options to turn off romanization and community features. I like the grammar lessons though and the lessons are fun and interactive, but there should be way more typing and pronunciation practice.
