I REALLY wish my school would finally leave blackboard for good. I cannot stand this app. I have used blackboard with cell phones, chromebook, desktops, several different types of computers and it is glitchy as all get out. I am so sick of "Oops! Something went wrong!" And "x Something's not quite right" every time I try to look at my grade details or open an attachment for an assignment or upload an assignment that is DUE that I worked on for WEEKS and is worth a THIRD of my grade.

Useless; even more so than the desktop site, and that's saying something. Slow, antiquated, garbage UI. Blackboard fails to meet even the bare minimum of expectation for modern UI / functionality — feels like it's 15 years past it's useful life. Educational institutions should stop trotting this out as a useful addition to ANY educational experience.

Not intuitive to navigate compared to desktop version. Often cannot actually see attachments that profs have uploaded. I recently uninstalled & reinstalled due to only seeing one of my classes having loaded material, & the semester begins in 3 days. That is unusual. I have been out-of-town, so I will see if other classes are truly there via desktop later. It's only relatively helpful in general. Many times it ends up just being a catalyst for me to have to turn my computer back on. 🙄

I personally find this app to be very conveinent, but I have only one issue. I get notifications for the same thing multiple times. So say a teacher uploads an announcement, I will get a notification. Then a few hours later, I get the same notification again, even if I have already seen it. And this happens every few hours until another teacher makes a new post. Its a minor problem, but if you have multiple online classes, it can get really annoying very quickly.

The app is useful in sending updates for things happening in my courses, but over the 2 years I've used it, the interface has been incredibly buggy. Opening any notifications leads me to a screen that I can't open anything on because most of the images or text fail to render properly. Also, a majority of the course documents I can open on a PC I cannot find links for in the app. Fun fact: my school is switching away from blackboard and is using canvas next year, so even the school disliked it.

During my 2023 spring semester the app worked great, operated quickly and allowed me access to the information I needed. The most recent updates have been atrocious. I'm constantly having to log in, despite asking the app to remember me (literally log in every time I open the app), the response is very slow or crashes the app constantly. You're better off using their web browser until they fix the issues with the app.

The app does what it's supposed to - I can check classes, assignments due, and grades on it. There's no chance I could ever attempt an assignment thru the app... even a multiple choice quiz. The app is not reliable enough for that. It's also updated biweekly with tiny patches or fixes that have had noticeably zero impact on the UI or overall experience. I don't mind the updates, but then they sometimes take 5 minutes and push an app restart. Overall, an average app. Very average.

This app is so much worse than the desktop version or even the mobile version of the site it's not even comparable. Slow to load anything or navigate anywhere, crashes anytime I try to open a file from a class, and past classes showing up I'm not in anymore. You're better off going to your mobile browser, and adding the URL to the home screen

Absolute trash. I'm not sure why the bugs aren't being fixed after multiple updates. This app served me well for the past 3 years, and now I have to lug a laptop around because this app doesn't work well on Android or Mac. "there seems to be a problem on our side". Every dang day. I can't acesss discussion posts or my grades I tried to send feedback in the app and it thinks I'm an educator and not a student. I sent a message, called my school IT and there has been no solution.

The app is buggy and missing critical functions. The Android App seems to have lost the ability to push notifications recently. Accessing Mail *used* to be a disaster - it would inexplicably launch a poorly optimized browser so that you could read important class missives that way, but now instead of bad, Mail is just broken. Selecting 'Mail' brings you to a Restore page that informs you of a format error and that "All existing data will be replaced by this restore". Declining and pressing the back button, you'll be told that the file type of Mail isn't supported in the app and asked if you want to try another app. Pressing the Open With button brings you back to the Restore page. Outstanding. Aside from that, the grades panel must be opened repeatedly to see new posted grades, formatting is downright bizarre in the Discussion Board section (why are there rules overwriting default keyboard behavior? Why turn off capitalization defaults?) and if you are placed into a Blackboard-defined group by the professor so that you can use group-specific forums, tough luck - those are only available from the browser, not the app.

Every time I use the app I have to log back in. If I'm logged in and I open a pdf file from the app, it opens separately in pdf viewer, and when I go back to blackboard it logs me out again because I left the app. I went to turn on push notifications and the setting isn't even available. Even with email notifs turned on through my laptop, I still don't get updates. I was never really a fan of blackboard but lately it's been even worse than it used to be. Extremely frustrated!!

Useful, did bug out a couple of times but nothing logging in and out cant fix. You need to keep refreshing pages or switch back and forth between them so it updates your grades, but everything else (assignments, posts, discussions, etc.) updates asap. Definitely a tool that saves you the trouble of logging in back and forth and keeping tabs on your grades and announcements.

I tried using app again for SP24. Uninstalled it again. I still can't post an announcement without it adding double, triple, etc spacing when trying to make an announcement longer than "Hello class"!! Attendance blanks out, forcing me to crack open my computer. What's the point of having an app when you cant really use it! And, the desktop version still wipes out whatever you typed if you make a screen adjustment!

As an instructor, this app seems to only be useful for posting announcements. There's no way to create or upload content, or even just create a content area. Almost every item in the Grade Center can only be updated via the Web (the entire reason for using this app is to avoid using the Web). Most importantly, there's no way to view the grades for an entire class or even just one student (this is what I need to do most often, if a student sends me a grade query and I'm not near my laptop).

It makes me sign in multiple times a day, the UI is horrible, it's hard find to content for the modules, the grades options they give instructors are horrible (last semester my grade was at "Wow!" the whole time). How does that help students understand their grade? Seems like all the updates are for teachers, not the actual students using the app. I much prefer Canvas

I thought Canvas was bad, this is even worse, it can't properly work if your grade depended on it. I only downloaded the app to upload and submit pictures/screenshots of my work, but most of the time I end up either emailing the files to myself so I can submit via computer or attaching a cord from my phone to computer. It's embarrassing! I have to click around a bunch of different ways to load up an assignment page. Forget loading up lab instruction documents to read on the go- almost useless.

The latest update of the app has caused a technical issue, making it impossible for you to use the app. Every time you try to open the app, it instantly crashes and closes itself, not allowing you to access its features or functionality. This is frustrating and disappointing, especially if you relied on the app for specific tasks or daily usage. Please fix it!

Reanna McGlone

Extremely frustrating and not user-friendly. There was an update recently that just trashed the app. Please do better. This app is used by students and seems to be more orlf a headache than it's worth. Unfortunately, what choice do we have? The app is not east to navigate, cengage doesn't load and the assignments are hard to get to. It's just trash.

This app is slow and ridden with bugs. The only reason I give it two stars is because it is nice to have notifications about what's going on in class, but as far as trying to use the app itself, nothing seems to work. If I try to open an announcement, it always opens a different announcement from the one I click on. In fact, pathing is buggy at most places within the app. The grades I see are never the up to date grades. It's really an awful app, and astounding these issues haven't been fixed.

Absolute dumpster fire of an app, actual garbage mobile app. Nothing works as it's supposed to; logging in is inconsistent, courses randomly switch places when fully loaded, making me press on something I don't intend to; the app is slow; it's difficult to upload images to submit; and on top of all of that, the app can just decide to have a another instance of itself running within a single tab so when you tap off of it, you're sent back to the login. Represents everything wrong with tech today.
