Great app and simple to use. +1 for the open source!. However could the app be updated to latest Android built? I am running Android 11 and it's running on compatibility mode. Permissions should be updated to the latest Android. This would allow to ask for permission on the time of the action and for the specific acction (like contact access when sharing a contact) instead of having to provide permissions by default. This would provide a lot of clarity for the users and give a better feedback.

This is a great app and it should give you no problems unless you're constantly updating to new phones. This user is not going to update their app because it works perfectly with offers is Android. If you're suddenly having problems with this app after several years it's because the phone that you picked has changes on top of Androids base code. Don't blame this user for issues blame the company that's changing your version of Android like Samsung loves to do.

I've used this app for years. I bought a new phone and it did not install because of it being "made for an older version of Android". My old phone had been updated to Android 12. My new phone is Android 12. So I installed it in my new phone. It works fine. Great app. Gets the job done. No ads. No shared data. No data collected. Can't beat that!

Ignore the bad reviews talking about how a recent update turned this app into adware; they are rating the wrong app. Before you install this app or any other, check its most recent update date and its permissions; clearly those reviews are talking about another app, perhaps with a similar name. This is a simple app that just scans barcodes & QRcodes, and does it well. It doesn't require any permissions except camera; it doesn't send the barcode (or your identity) to a server.

I have really seen too many applications to scan and none has served me as much as this one! It is incredible how useful it is being light and for me that I work in a wholesale business of facial beauty products has really been an help to categorize my products, the application also has a history to see the searches made and a series of very specific settings to make an effective scan. I definitely loved it!

Please add an option to put a different sound when the barcode is a duplicate so we don't have to check the history list everytime we look for a duplicate. Imagine scanning hundreds and thousands of barcodes looking for a duplicate. Good luck. haha If you add this feature, you will be the only app that has this feature. I will even pay for this app. Until then will I give my 5-star rating. Thank you!

It's ugly but it does the job, and most other barcode scanners are based on its code. I recommend disabling the "retrieve more info" option in settings as this will "visit" every URL you scan in the background whether you end up clicking the link or not. This can break one-time-use URLs, or leak info you thought was private. That option should be disabled by default, IMHO.

The application is very light, concise, works fast, does not contain ads and is built on an open source project. Many users write that the app started showing ads in the last few months, but the last update was 02/25/2019. Unfortunately, they confuse this app with an already removed one, which actually started to show ads aggressively. This leads to a drop in the rating of a good application that accidentally happens to have the exact same name. It is necessary to look not only at the name of the application, but also at the manufacturer.

Used to be great but not anymore. I have had this app for years with no issues at all and it had always worked great. Today I used it and ended up getting a phone full of adware. My browser continued to open new tabs for dumb sales stuff. When I ran my security software, it found that all of the issues were coming from adware from this app. Not sure why they changed this app with all of this adware but I needed to get a new app for my scanner.

This app allowed me to import WiFi networks and passwords from a QR code in one tap, even on a device with an older version of Android (9) that has no built-in option in settings or network settings to add (or export) a WiFi network from a QR code. Thus, I spent under 5 seconds in this app today. How convenient, simple, and wonderful! Instead of fiddling with complex WiFi passwords or broken barcode scanning apps, I was on to bigger and better things in my life (like writing long reviews).

I use this as the primary scanner on my phone, and have found out to be accurate. My only complaint is that it often takes a VERY long time to focus up close, and instead focusses out no matter how close I'm holding the code. I think it should either default to a closer focus setting, or make better use of the cameras focal length sensors.

This app is not going to provide you all the information you want. Normal barcodes, and even QR codes, may be just regular text or a number that is only understood one way. Yet remember that this lets you read a URL, etc. BEFORE you go to it, thus is why it is great. I have no device I can test with, but if it is still true, it may have issues with devices that have no camera focus.

09/13/2022: Had on phones for years. Today it failed, citing a camera error. Found alternative, but it turned out to be a scam (still got ads after paying), so I uninstalled. While searching alternates, I found this one again and reinstalled. Works now. Relieved! I don't use often, but when needed, it's essential! Wish it had flashlight button. Also QR creator doesn't do Clipboard, Bookmark, or Type-In Text. Application & Contacts QRs work. Also won't rotate.

When it works it's great! Works fine on my phone, with lighted camera. (Does nothing on unlighted Galaxy Tab 3 in bright conditions. Don't have anymore.) Found a few apps that don't require this specific barcode scanner. Still use a lot, especially for QR codes for Bluetooth device apps on my Android 10 devices. Love that it saves the info from scanned codes: can go back in list and re-enter QR's URLs, book ISBNs, and barcodes. Use weekly for years, no problems!

I am not one to take the time to actually write a review. I usually just rate things with the stars but this is so disapointing frustrating. I've been using this app with a collection of apps that track game, movie, book collections for a few years to scan the barcodes of movies, games, and books to add to my collection lists. It worked great for a long time on two different phones running Andoid 8&9. New one with 10. It focuses but won't capture.

This was exactly what I was looking for and it worked perfect. I was able to quickly scan product bar codes and save them in "history". When I was finished scanning, I was able to share the history to email as a csv file attachment. The csv file contained the code value, the code type (UPC_A), and the date and time of the scan. The app is super easy to use. Please note that there are many old comments. The app can rotate, has bar code illumination and more. There were NO ADS.

This app is what I consider the original, tried, and true barcode scanner. I remember using it on my LG Optimus back on Android 2, and it was beautiful. On every Android phone I've owned, this was one of the essential apps to get. Today, it works just as it used to, but with the modernization that all phones and Android updates provide. Thanks for keeping it up to date all these years.
