It also allows you to be alerted when other app users nearby have seen the aurora light display. For the alert feature to work, other app users register aurora reports when they are successful hunting and get to see the aurora light display. This has proven to be quite successful.
Many of the app users also upload pictures of northern lights when they see them, and in this app you can see these pictures. You can also see dots on a 3d-globe animation showing where people have just observed the light show. There are users in the US, Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand who regularly report their observations and upload pictures.
Although the chances are greater if you live in Alaska, northern Canada, Norway, Sweden, Finland, the southern tip of New Zealand etc, there are also regular opportunities in places like Minnesota, Wisconsin, Washington, Montana, Michigan, Chicago, New York, Scotland, Denmark, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, the Baltics etc.
The premium version which can be bought within the app itself offers some more technical information and graphs of Kp-index predictions, cloud cover and solar wind parameters - and some hidden features.

Forces to use your location, if you deny that, you can't manualy set a location so it is useless

Doesn't work anymore. Sends out kp alerts over 5 when it's cloudy and raining even tho theres nothing on other forecast sites and apps.

I purchased the upgrade on my old phone wich broke, but I can't seem to transfer to new phone when I.downloaded app. What should I do as I don't really want to pay for it again? Thanks. I am enjoying the app. L

Have had this one for years and still the best. Gives me good visual of the live Aurora data. KP threshold a good feature too.

Notifications aren't working anymore on my Essential phone. Could it be Android 9? I have the notifier add-on app.

Doesn't work without access to location data - at all (can't be set manually). Useless if you don't want to keep that on at all times.

Works well, I might upgrade to premium but I don't see any place we are told what that gets us or how much it is. So I don't upgrade. Thanks for the response, bought.

This app has completely stopped working this week. It just says refreshing all the time. This happened once before and lasted several weeks before it was fixed.

Much improved and revamped as of May 2023 this is my go to app for Aurora chasing now. Also picks up on local sightings so you can head off with some confirmation that "it's on !". Heaps of data and loved the graphics.

I'm just learning about aurora monitors and Apps. ATM I'm trying to set a (loud) alarm to notify me of high chance & seen by others nearby. so far I've missed 2 potential excursions. I think, once I work it out, this could be good. Thanks Developer - I will try that.

looks beautiful but I've had it for several months, it gives notifications in real time, thus you can't plan and wait for it. I usually saw the notification in the morning. As for the few times it happened in the evening, there was no sign of aurora outside, while colleagues told me about auroras I did not get any notification for... Conclusion: useless app!

Thanks to the author!! Accurate scientific information in advanced tab with help from official public and academic operated sources like norway weather service, DSCOVR satellite at lagrange point L1, german GFZ (geological research center) and US based NOAA predictions. The globe should be more zoomable to roughly identify cities and regions as sightings are getting cluttered and image upload to instagram does not work, there are only a couple of old pictures and my uploads don't appear.

Planning a trip to Iceland. this app keeps me updated how frequently the lights are visible. This and University of Alaska 27 day forecast help to plan something that can't really be planned. Best of luck in your viewing opportunities!

Good app, which shows you the (more or less) current KP index, as well as a forecast. Best thing: it notifies you depending on the settings you choose and lets you know when / if other users have seen auroras in your region. You can set your location manually or by GPS. The interface is a bit basic and sadly there's no info how much the premium version costs. I wanted to support the creator, but having to agree to Google Plays buying contract without being shown the cost was not ideal. :(

This is a great app for checking Aurora activities. There are a lot of functions and has predictions ect and an interactive map with locations pinpointed in green where the aurora has been seen recently. I use this app in conjunction with 4 other apps to calculate the aurora possibilities for my location. I am in New England so I need as much proof as I can get lol.
