OVERVIEW

Ever spent hours sketching a portrait, only to discover that the nose or eye is misplaced? Use our AR art projector and tracing tool to layout artwork before you begin or check your work as you progress.

Struggling with light and shadow placement? Divide your image into color value layers and overlay them virtually to pinpoint the right spots for darks, mid-tones, and highlights.

LEARNING HOW TO DRAWING?

We have drawing tutorials and lessons using our unique patent-pending learning method. You can also turn ANY photo into a step by step shading drawing lesson with our AR tracing tool.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Based on a tool that has been used by artists for centuries, this app is a digital version of a Camera Lucida.

You suspend your device above or in front of your canvas with a stand, tall glass, or other objects easily found around your house.

When using your phone, you can view both the image and the canvas simultaneously, offering functionality akin to an art projector or light box, but with expanded capabilities.

You can sketch or draw on any surface, zoom in to draw micro details in your drawing, and you don't have to draw in the dark.

WILL THIS HELP ME LEARN HOW TO SKETCH & DRAW?

You'll be training your eye to recognize proportions, sketch and draw with shading, and refine your hand for precise lines and strokes on paper. Our proven techniques ensure quicker and more efficient learning compared to any other sketch and draw app.

AR TRACING MODE REQUIREMENTS

AR mode works best on new and high end devices. Your device must have a high quality camera, fast processor, and a fast enough GPU to handle rendering and updates.

AR & CLASSIC DRAWING MODE

AR tracing mode anchors your image to an object in the real world. This lets you move your canvas or phone, and the drawing and projected image will move back into place.

Classic mode is like a normal art projector, where if you move your phone or canvas, your sketch or drawing will no longer be aligned.

AR tracing mode is especially useful for sketching, drawing or painting on an easel. However, in most cases, Classic mode will achieve the same result.

TAKE YOUR DRAWING TO THE NEXT LEVEL

Da Vinci Eye is waiting to help you to improve your drawing skills. Trace, sketch and draw using AR technology.

Looked very promising so I gave it a go. Followed all instructions and made an anchor point for best possible results but the images I'm using are just constantly flickering around on the page making it impossible to trace any image. I've tried making different anchor points, fixing focus (which when pressed does nothing) and used various methods of holding the phone (glass method, tripod, cup, aerosol) all to no avail. Such a shame ! Will be requesting a refund.

This app has potential. It's currently on v. 3.1.2 and i won't be using it again. The image was a little instable, and when i moved the camera physically, to take in more of the photo, it no longer lined up with my drawing - despite the anchor being clearly visible. The other thing is canvas size. Having your phone positioned so it can see your cavass, while you can see your screen, and draw, limits the size you can work to, to approx A4 Better off with a grid, light box or projector.

This app has saved me so many clunky work arounds of getting my digital designs and sketches onto physical format. It doesn't come without a few short comings - larger artwork is more challenging to work with but doable. A high end phone is needed for the AR feature as it's taxing on devices and probably needs a good camera (works decently on a Pixel 7). A solid phone stand highly recommended. Happy with my purchase and I hope there's continued improvements on the app.

Best projector app so far. I've used many, and the better ones require a paid subscription. The selling point for me is the anchor. I am always knocking my phone and messing up the alignments on my projector, and the anchor helps keep the picture in place. Forget the ratings that mention a learning curve: you get that with any projector app. For now, I'm thoroughly impressed with this app!

The application has several limitations that may not justify its £15 price tag. While the app itself functions well, it lacks the ability to display user recordings and generate functional reports. Had I been aware of these limitations, I would not have made the purchase. Additionally, the app does not offer a free trial, requiring users to commit to a purchase before experiencing its features.

I can't believe how easily you can sketch complex pictures with fine detailing. With the step by step guide, anybody can set it up. Its a clean modern app which does exactly as it says. I emailed the developer with a couple of questions and he responded in super quick time and was really helpful. I can't thank him enough for creating something which help people like me to learn/improve their sketching and take it to the next level. I loved the app so much I have the IOS version too. Super happy!

Great app overall, though my phone doesn't properly work with the AR anchor. It says it's because I have an old device, but I have a Samsung S10 which came out in 2019. Is that considered old now? When I create an anchor (after following all instructions) and I want to move/rotate the image, it doesn't do so properly. Similarly to other reviews, the image also flickers. App works perfectly in classic mode, but you have to make sure to tape your paper down and have a steady tripod.

For $30, this app has let me down. I don't know if it's a Samsung thing, but the continuous glitching in both modes of drawing means that I cannot get a proportioned drawing no matter how quickly I do it. The anchor never seems to correlate to the angle I am using, and despite no knocking/moving of anything the camera looks like it is bouncing. On top of this, the app drowns my phone battery way quicker than any app on my phone. Such a waste of money.

Anchor option is only suitable for iPhones with LiDar sensors, I'm using S24 Ultra and this feature is useless on my "high-end device". Lack of option to lock the projected image so that it doesn't rotate when resizing is spectacularly thoughtless. Image quality is compressed when uploading so another thumbs down. Time-lapse recording will shrink the video to 1 minute no matter how long your process is. How silly is that? No option to change it either. Overall this is a very carelessly made app

Well worth the money. Total simplicity. Definitely a bit strange to use. (Straining on the eyes for too long but it may just be me) I've used this with black or dark paper and gel pens as light boards do not shine through. I've drawn tattoos on myself and friends with magic marker or ink pens. This app is a 10/10 5 star 100% win. If advertisements are ever implemented I will delete this app in a heartbeat and take back everything I've mentioned above and demand a refund.

This is an absolutely beautiful, wonderful app. It works just as it's described, and it probably the best investment an amateur artist can make. I'm using it to block out large photo references which will turn into paintings. Help is available quickly from the designer and from the related FB group. I experienced a learning curve of about 4-6 hours over 3 days, but apparently most people don't have as much trouble.

I sincerely have not been so excited over an app like this one. It somewhat reminds me of the Lucida tool but faarrr better. I've been having so much fun with it. It gets you where you need to go portion wise/placement wise. The strobe effect allows you to switch from photo to paper. It's brilliant. I keep finding new fun options on it. I can't imagine anyone having a problem with this app. It's wonderful! And in these troubled times... it's hard to find something that gets you so excited! Yay!

Man, reading other people's reviews is a trying experience sometimes, jeeze. This is a wonderful app if you spend 10 minutes and use the supplied resources available to learn the ins and outs. If you can't do that... idk sucks for you. SUPER useful. Basically my dream app, considering I JUST started learning how to draw but still desperately want to watercolor. This makes it possible. Love it. Thanks for continually making improvements and responding to people, developers.

There is a learning curve but their excellent support will get you there. It's worth the effort. I had almost given up but the strong support I received was clear, patient and helpful. I've been using the app every day for a week now and can't imagine not having it. Thanks to their team, really great work. I would also definitely buy their camera stand, the desk version or clamp version. Either one will offer much more flexibility with the app.

I work with stained glass, which many times involves transposing your idea from paper to glass. What an excellent app for this purpose alone. The "breakdown" feature is really a state of the art drawing experience that you will keep employing for conceptual ideas. If you design, you will immediately understand the value of this app as an art tool to keep handy.

This app has a rather weird, kind of steep learning curve. The app itself is super simple with great instructions. The learning lies with getting your brain to let you accurately trace lines without getting disoriented and straying off. If you ever went to the dentist as a kid and they gave you those mirror glasses so you could read a book without being in the way, It's kind of like wearing those and doing a paper maze. Once you get used to it though, it's an amazing app!

Works fine if you want to do small drawings, but couldn't even get it to see the full page of an 8x10 without the phone being too high to really work. Kind of sad that it makes it look easy to do larger drawings, but settings make it feel impossible to do so. Had my phone on a stack of cups, and it was so high that you can't even see the phone screen looking down on it to draw while sitting down at that point. Would be nice otherwise for small sketches, I suppose, not much else.

This is a really cool little ap. It is not something I will personally use. It lags a little moving the picture and there is a learning curve that once over it is very useful, but you need to invest in a stand. If you want to use the AP to it's potential you really need one. I am so happy to see a good art ap, I hope they keep updating this as it has the potential to help a lot of artist, be it they are new to art or a pro.

I like the app... Except... It quickly drains my phone battery and tends to make my phone overheat a little. The AR is hit or miss most days with it saying it can't find the anchor when it's clearly in sight. Other than that, it's great! I can arrange my subject perfectly in the areas I want, find the color value differences I might miss, and help get proportions right. There's tons of support and tutorials and lots of little features available. I hope to see it keep improving.

Very good useful app, some frustrations. Anchor took 3 tries, they should just prepare a perfect PDF anchor image that you could download and print. AR mode great idea but unstable. Suggestion: use AR mode in order to set your image scale and page position, but then lock it down and switch to Classic mode for stability. Turn back to AR mode when you need to move the phone around the page so you don't have to manually shift the image, then lock it down again. Would solve most issues.
