I have been using the app since Verizon off-loaded email to AOL. I found the app to behave oddly as I first used it. To their credit, the developers of the Android app made significant performance and behavioral improvements. However, when I attempt to open a message from a notification, only the subject line loads; I have to close, and reopen from the in-box to view. In addition, the Delete feature available on the Android notification doesn't work; I can only delete from the app.

I have had AOL since dial up was a thing and I absolutely love it still! This company literally had a phone number and customer service should you get locked out, no other email I've used to date has offered that! Plus the user interface is so easy to follow and I don't know why more people aren't using it. Try it of you're even considering it because in my opinion the only thing you'll lose is a headache from annoying emails services that are subpar by comparison.

New update is still horrible. It is a knockoff of the yahoo mail app. You can't select how the app opens. It now open to news. The news feature is my least used option. 4/17/23 emails now open to the last viewed account. The app still hides emails. It will say you have 50 but only show 20 until you refresh. Sometimes that includes exiting and signing back in. Also wants you to upgrade to pro and crashes when you dont.

UPDATE: the constant notification of aol asking me to upgrade to aol+ is annoying! And, I still have to constantly delete the same emails I no longer need in my inbox. IT, please fix these issues! Your competitor Google mail doesn't do this! I have to constantly delete the same emails I no longer need in my inbox. In addition, I couldn't send a reply to an email the other day. I tried messaging AOL twitter account regarding the issue and no one followed up! Can their IT look into these issues.

I am one of the original AOL subscribers, but this app is awful. It freezes and is very slow to download messages. There isn't any "help" or service. Updating this review. It's still one of the worst apps. It's slow to update email. The news pieces often don't appear. Time to get rid of AOL.

-1 rating. No customer service. Text, font size can't be enlargd/zoomed. what's the point in having email you can't read? App won't allow you to zoom/rotate the view of messages or change text size like old ver.; most user-unfriendly app. How can the old version be reinstalled? Ads are ridiculous, email has features that keep me from being able to view a message, which is kinda the point in an email app. The developers still see feedback but really don't help or care to make it better.

Jan 2024 Saved article disappear from the saved area. What's the point of saving. Dec 2022 need to sort by sender in the APP, it will save time to clean up mail. May 2021 want my mail to open first not the news. Check ALL gets unchecked when one item is unchecked for deletion. Doesn't go to next mail after deletion. The new app is time consuming poking around to accomplish anything.

I've had this email since later portion of the 90s. Now I see it's owned by Verizon Media, which is cool, that's my carrier. Keep up the good work AOL Media and Verizon Wireless Media. The apps great new features, some of the app can be somewhat confusing for someone with cognitive impairments, which that would be me from not enough O². But, I manage somehow with hope. The layouts pretty cool and folder section is essential. I love the app and had this address since 1996, I believe. Great App!

Mostly good. A few bugs. Some obvious features not yet included. Main search on the news screen doesn't search the news articles (it's a web search), so if you want to find something you already read again, you probably won't be able to. Saving news articles to read later doesn't work right; they disappear without notice. Landscape mode isn't implemented in email, and neither is auto-wrapping, so reading some emails is very annoying. In-app feedback is broken; submitting to "UserVoice" fails.

I installed this so I could use it to check email via AOL. However, I can get notifications of new emails, and if I try to view them from the notification, I can. But I can't open the app and read my emails. They won't load. This makes the app worthless to me. They offer phone support, but you have to pay for it, and I'm not going to do that. I have now tried to uninstall, restart, and then reinstall and the problem remains.

Update: it's gotten better and I've gotten used to it. The check boxes and flags are there. I still think we need to be able to create "subfolders" under a main folder. PRIOR REVIEW WAS:The April 2021 upgrade ruined the email function. Quick deletion, check boxes, flags are all missing. The app opens directly to news instead of email. It's like the developers are deliberately trying to ditch users. I cannot recommend this version At. ALL.

For the last week been having issues with AOL email on my phone suddenly not syncing with my AOL email on my desktop PC, & vice versa. No idea why, nothing has changed on my end, this started out of the blue. Update: still the same. I'm unable to delete emails from my app. I have to go to my desktop PC in order to do this. Been months now.

I have found the last few months that notifications have stopped being pushed for this app. I have checked all settings in both the AOL app and on my phone and by all accounts, I should be getting notified when I get an email. But it doesn't happen. I get maybe 1 notification every two days and the rest of my emails I have to manually open the app to receive. I've contacted the help email that AOL gives when you have a problem several times and have yet to hear back from them

I used to love it but there's been an issue for around 4 months now with your app on the "home" tab when reading a news article and moving down the list. After pressing on an article then reverting back to home, it automatically jumps back to the top news. I then have to scroll back down the news list again to find where I left off. Very frustrating. It never did this before.

Bad since merging with Yahoo and Oath. Customer service is the only improvement. I used a paid version. Some idiot removed me without my permission, and it's loaded with ads now!😞 new review 2024 There are so many issues with this app. I would need a notebook to list all of it. Since AOL closed the paid version I've used since landlines, when it was the only option, the problems continue. I'm in the habit of keeping all emails. I will be putting in a ticket listing problems. Has updating issues

While it is usable at its basic, it's designed to show you a page with news, trends and other items first, which you cannot bypass or have it default to the email portion of the app first. Also, you can't opt out of using the app simply for email where you can register and use other apps like Gmail as your email client instead. Also, while the app has a comments/bulletin board for these types of complaints it almost seems like it's designed to not let you register your comments. Fail.

I rarely have much interest in other features of the app besides checking my email. Sometimes I click on a news story because I see it, but usually I would rather not see news before checking email. It is too easy to accidentally delete emails. I think I only managed to cancel once after accidentally sliding an email left while trying to scroll or open the email. The cancel option should stay longer, and I want a recently deleted list to recover emails I accidentally deleted.

Overall still a great app. Thank u for unlimited(?) storage (unlike greedy Google). Please fix the following: when u are reading an email, and attempt to scroll down, far too easily, the app will think I am trying to swipe left or right, and will bring me to the previous email. It is waaaay too sensitive. Fix it please! Swiping left or right is an obvious motion, clearly different from swiping down. Thanks!

I'd recommend that you add fully tested features one at a time, keeping each new feature optional for users who are satisfied with the existing configuration. The app always returns to the news feed; I want email to be default. May 23, 2024: I came to lower the rating and noticed I hadn't raised it from the last issue, so I'll leave it where it is. Today's update erased my preferences so I had to reset them. That's annoying, especially when one needs to check something quickly.

For a VERY long time this app worked great and then about 3 or 4 updates ago it developed an issue. I can open the Inbox with no problems BUT when I go to another folder and then try to return back to the Inbox it "Hangs/Freezes/Stops Responding". After a minute or so there's a pop up with the option to either "Close or Wait". The PC Online version works Great. It's the Android version that has this issue PLEASE fix ASAP as I use this Email a lot and have for a long time. JCheno
