This, is bad. If I had literally any other method to control the firestick until I find my remote I would. Anything else, including climbing behind the TV and pressing buttons on the stick. This has gotta be my 4th time downloading this app and every single time, the same exact thing. No matter what direction you select, no matter how fast you let off of it, always goes allllllllll the way up, down, left or right. If it had a 3rd dimension I'm sure it would stick too.

So awesome, works even better than the physical remote and is a life saver when the physical remote stops working for some reason; you run out of batteries and can't make it to the store, you lose it, or it simply won't connect to the fire stick, which happens far more often than it should. It has all the features the physical remote has and more, like a keyboard feature to make typing in the search bar on apps so much faster and easier. Super easy and fast to install and use, took 30 seconds.

Original review 2023: Never stays connected! It will connect for 2 mins, and then my tv will disappear from the list of connected tv smh. When it works...its amazing. Functions just like a regular remote. I just wish it worked more often. Update 1/24: I'm still having trouble staying connected. I found a quicker way to reconnect the app to TV...unplug my tv, then plug in and wait for it to load. App connects to my tv after a few mins.

There are tons of glitches, always disconnecting, and is a pain to reconnect. Super delayed, and with a lot of apps, you go through the whole routine of getting to the show you want, and you start the show only for the app to close and bring you back to the home screen. You can't control the volume on your TV like you can with roku either, and I hate that.

Despite restarting the wireless router, uninstalling and reinstalling the app, putting phone in airplane mode and taking it back out, this app refuses to connect. This isn't always, but it's a persistent issue with this app. Great when it works, but infuriating when it fails, which it does far too frequently. Going to go look for a replacement for the physical remote to free myself from this torment.

Used to work flawlessly until a couple months ago. It won't connect to either of my two fire sticks any more. It recognizes the stick as available to connect to, but always fails to connect. There has been a couple times it connects and lets me navigate for a few seconds before disconnecting. I really need this app because both fire stick physical remotes have been defective (one of them drains battery fully in a day) and this is the only way I can use my fire stick.

Used to work. Now it refuses to connect no matter what I do. Edit: When this app stopped working, I had to delete out of frustration and just deal with having a Fire TV with limited options. I just downloaded this again on 11/22/22 and it works now! Before, it needed my remote for the app to work, which posed a problem; seeing as my remote doesn't work. Now I finally have access to my Fire TV's features now! 🥳🥳🥳 3/8/24 Tv show ups in the list, but the app refuses to connect no matter what.

Recently this has become almost impossible to use. Pushing a button once might get you one press on the TV, or it might get you 30 rapid presses. So when I'm trying to turn up the volume from 10 to 15, many times it just keeps going to 100 and won't let me stop until I close/open the app , usually after the house is booming and everyone is awake. When I want to move over one tile to open an app it might go 1, or 4, or endlessly scroll that direction.

Revised again. If only there was a zero rating. Will not even stay connected. Connects. immediately disconnects, connects, disconnects, etc. When rarely connected take 2 or 3 minutes to start a movie, if it ever does. Even then the movie will start pause 30 seconds, run, then pause again. A total waste of time. Amazon needs to get its head out of its . . . . . . Roku works fine.

Better than remote...but it still has an issue with connecting. It also wants to pause video on its own as well. Hope this update helps. Update, well it stopped randomly pausing but now using the direction buttons is frustrating. You click on an arrow and it seems to lock in and the menu scrolls on its own. Very annoying. Try to click 2 over and it "flys" across the screen. Try to click over once and it clicks over twice. Best thing I can do is uninstall and reinstall onve a week

Grandkids are constantly losing the remote, this app is a life saver, works great. Having problems, left and right arrow buttons sticking, very annoying, anyone else having same problems, when you are scrolling for something to watch it will run away with itself before you can stop it, ordered another fire stick with remote, will be glad when it gets here. Oh yeah, I've tried different phones, still gets stuck.

What the hell is up with all these remote apps that done even work I thought I had actually found a good one that worked but no it doesn't not at all anytime I try to listen to music it just keeps moving the cursor and wont stop constantly scrolling to the bottom of my tv it keeps disconnecting from my TV now won't connect at all it's not even showing up anymore and every time I delete and reinstall the app it still doesn't pop up anymore so please do better

I dont know why it keeps disconnecting. I force stop the app multiple times. It does this on our Android and Apple phones. We try to reconnect but can not even find the Fire TV device. Unfortunately, we have children who do not know how to keep the actual remote in a place where it can be found, so this app is what we've used when the actual remote is MIA. We've even unplugged the TV, waited a few seconds, plugged back in, and still the app cannot find the Fire TV device.

I downloaded this app after I installed a firestick on my living room TV. Recognized that TV fine. Then I installed a firestick on my bedroom TV. Well, the only way I could get it to recognize the second firestick was to uninstall the app and then reinstall it. Don't know why, but it worked. Also, there is no way to control the volume. Other than that, it seems to work ok.

I hate dealing with this. I liked when I could use a universal remote with my fire tv. But they did something and I couldn't use a universal remote. I even bought a replacement fire tv remote, but that wouldn't work. I downloaded the app and I could use my tv. After a little while, it started taking a few minutes to connect. Every freaking time! It often disconnects while I'm watching tv. It's aggravating! I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app like the support guy said, but it's the same

update: 5 years later and it still sucks. Works properly 10% of the time. Disconnects constantly. Especially irritating when fastforwarding or rewinding and you cant stop it until you reconnect again...every time. It is not my internet provider, and all of my other apps and devices have no issues. Not a great app. Currently it is no longer recognizingg my fire stick, and I have re-signed in and rebooted both several times.

Update: The app is back working properly. I'm adding the additional two stars. This app is great! It's nice to have access to my Fire TV, especially when my wife Bogarts the remote control. Also, typing in search criteria is much easier with the app than the remote, unless you prefer using voice commands. You can even do that with the app.
