Actually, I rate this app a ZERO. This app is totally useless and is basically taking up space on my phone's hard drive. Since the so-called "update" the app hasn't worked at all. I'm surprised it even opens at all. When I try to add the door back to the app I get a response saying that the device is bound to another account. THAT'S ME!!! Pathetic.

Could be a lot better. Cannot get Google Assistant to open the garage door simply. And when you try to tap the open button, that doesn't work either. To make it work, you have to hold it down and not move your finger at all, which you should NEVER do while driving. Love the Genie, but Aladdin...not so much. Should be easy fixes. Happy to revisit if it ever gets fixed.

Brand new app with a whole bunch of notifications about there's going to be major changes and once you download it and sign in it's basically the exact same as what you had before. There's a couple of other options to turn on for door rules and such but that's it. Previous still applies. No dark mode available whatsoever, if you turn on force dark in developer options it is very hard to see anything on the screen in here. Integration with Android Auto doesn't exist and should be there by now.

The button you need to hold down on the screen in order to open and close the garage Shakes when you try to hold it. Why did you make it move? Aladdin needs to remove the ability to drag or move the button at all. Also when you're using the Google home app that interfaces with service you have to input a four-digit pin. Which is really stupid because you've already authenticated to your phone to get into the app.

I thought this app was supposed to get better. Now the notifications are hit or miss. Worked better on the old app. Yes..... I've logged out and logged back in multiple times it's still the same. Sometimes I get a notification Sometimes I get nothing. Yes.... the internet connection and door sensors all have good connectivity. It's definitely on the developers of the apps end.

You have GOT to be kidding me! The app boasted an upgraded coming on the 23rd. The app hit and... nothing ! All back-end. The UI looks like Android from 2010. You buy an expensive opener and you expect an app that looks decent and has functions that are intuitive and fluid. Still desperately needs a total UI update to bring it up to speed with current design schemes. Shocked at this failure.

UPDATE: They did some update on their end which caused all doors not to function. Shows the doors but none work. Dropping to 1 star. Nothing works. I am NOT reinstalling all 4 doors at two different location, all over again because their app writers are hacks. Now I have no access to my vacation home. Thanks! _------- I don't get the negative reviews. This installed simply and has worked for 3 months. I suspect most people are having problems from weak WiFi which is unrelated to this product.

Update 2/7/24 - A fix was put into place resolving my notification issues while phone was asleep. Everything seems back to normal again. Recent update version 6.x has killed door open/close notifications when phone screen is locked. Previous version worked just fine. Same device, same settings, only the app has changed. No amount of logging in / out fixes it. Judging by the amount of people with this issue, it isn't related to my account.

It used to work perfectly smoothly, but since a few weeks ago, my door disconnects constantly from my wifi network. I get a message on the app screen telling me it is because my "network doesn't allow my door to connect to the cloud." I don't have such a problem with the rest of my devices connected to my network, though. I've tried resetting it, I've uninstalled the app and reinstalled it, deleted the door, and restarted the whole setup process, but nothing has fixed the issue. So frustrating

Very good app. (With 1 exception.) I have 2 garage door openers. App needs to have customizable notifications per door and per action so I can know the status of the door without using my phones default notification. As it stands now I get the same message played if I get a text message or if someone opens my garage doors. When busy, I ignore text messages. If I'm alerted that the garage door opened unexpectantly, I would stop what I was doing to investigate.

Update: lowering to 3 stars. If the door safety beam interrupts the closing sequence, the app is locked out from operating the door. My barn cats interrupt the beam often. So then the door must be closed using the wall switch. I use the app when traveling, so this makes it kinda useless. I would like to see more complex rules like sunrise, sunset, rain, snow, storms, wind values, temperatures etc. .. I would also like to be able to use the rules for the lights separately from opener.

Update 4/16/24 - still having same issues. App is worse than useless now. Since software was updated, app has become unreliable. App shows door as offline. At device, led is solid green (showing status as connected). Opening the door using keypad or attached button results in app status changing to online. After a short interval app status changes to offline while connect device still shows solid green (connected) status. If door has to be opened by connected device, app is useless.

Can't Add Rules. The app wizard goes through all the steps to create the rule, but it never shows up in the app. No way to contact help from within the app. The app gets confused over which graphic to display and sometimes shows the open icon for a closed door and visa versa. You must wait for one door to fully complete opening or closing before beginning to close another door or it will timeout and never happen and result in needing to do a hard reset at the door.

Can't log back in now after this update. Did the same thing after the last update. Tried to reset password and still nothing. Get some invalid error message. Terrible. 4/23/24. App won't even open now after update. Constantly getting an error message. Still send me notifications, but can't get the app to open. Love the idea, but the app is trash.

Complete Trash Impossible to connect. Asks to connect to it's own wifi network first, godctrl or something like that. Then it tells you to disconnect it and connect to local wifi. But it just spins forever, then finally gives an error that you need to connect to the godctrl network, rinse, repeat, and get in a never ending loop. What junk.

UPDATE: Aladdin emailed and asked that I call tech support with the issue. Simple fix, pull down and refresh the screen. Followed the set up instrux and the App returns the error, Door Disabled. Then followed the troubleshooting checklist, still shows as disabled. I'm running the most recent version on Android. The Door shows as connected and the history is recording the manual ups and downs. The App just won't operate the door. Smart Home?? Not with a Genie connected garage door opener.

Nothing but problems. made a network change, prepare to spend days trying to reconnect. just a frustrating nightmare. when it works, it's great, but too often it doesn't work, and it's a headache. I'll never buy another genie product for the experience with their connect alone. I can't get the app for older devices now either. update: unit will not connect to any wifi network, online functions are all negated, Aladdin is junk, customer service just wants to charge me for a repair! rofl gtfo

5/2024 edit. The app now operates better. It wasn't the delay it was that the app wouldn't open without problems. Updates seem to have fixed that. Continue to give a 2 star rating because the door accidentally got deleted from phone being in my pocket. Why is it so easy to delete a door. I've had that almost happen before with a slight touch. What a pain to reconnect again.

App works well enough. Unfortunately, because this particular version of the app manages to crash less than once-a-week, I can see that my garage door opener drops off line within a day of "resetting" it. Cycling the power usually works to restore the network connection, but I have had to go through the whole "set-up" routine a few times over the last couple of years. No other wireless things in the house have this network problem.

As of right now, the app is great and works well to let me remotely open and close garage door. However, they updated the app previously and when they did, it rendered it completely useless for months and months before they finally fixed it. So, as of now, it is a four star app. But I feel a little hesitant to give it that high of a rating because of the months and months of completely lost functionality they took forever to address.
