"Beautifully realised ... this gripping tale has us well and truly hooked" -- Pocket Gamer (Gold Award)

"Sometimes I feel like I'm wasting my time writing a review when I should really just be pointing at a game and demanding that people play it. This is one of those times. Steve Jackson's Sorcery! is an absolutely marvellous fantasy storybook adventure. Lushly illustrated and expertly told, it should not be missed by anyone even remotely interested in the genre." -- Gamezebo

"Let’s not mince words here... Sorcery’s unique blend of tabletop-like roleplaying (including an incredible combat system quite unlike anything I’ve seen before), and elaborate branching pathways with custom scripts preserving the feeling of Steve Jackson’s work make me now want to… no, HAVE TO acquire it" - Just Press Start

Featuring original illustrations by John Blanche, character art by Eddie Sharam (DC Comics), and an interactive map by Mike Schley (Wizards of the Coast).

A very good textual but visual RPG. However I was let down by the length of this game. It feels as if an entire world is waiting for me, but I haven't scratched the surface. They say V2, 3 and 4 are much longer, so I'll go and check number 2. In other words: the ge is immersive and fun enough to just head out and spend another €5,- for some interactive story reading RPG goodness.

A good introduction to see if you like the sorcery games. The game is a little short, but extremely replayable with so many different choices and outcomes. The other games are longer and you can bring your leveled character from this game to the 2nd. I highly recommend see if you like it. If you do get the following games aswell for an epic experience!

This is the first instalment of 4 and I, like other players, was disappointed at how short the first one was. However, your game save carries into the next instalments, which are very long and very replayable. I highly recommend this game - the quality is unmatched by any android game I've played. I suggest buying this along with Sorcery 2, 3 and 4. Each instalment improves vastly on the previous one and each game is beautifully designed. I like how this RPG doesn't hold your hand at all - lots of exploration!

Truely excellent and immersive. The price for this first one however is too high as it is quite short. I finished it in a couple hours. However, the following games in the series are longer and worth their price. The character you finish with carries on into the following game and so this first one is vital for both context and starting Sorcery! 2 off well equipped. It's a shame this first one isn't free as that would make it a great hook for the series - 10/10 nevertheless

Excellent adaptation. I would say this is easily the best the Choose Your Own Adventure series has ever been adapted to a video game. Played before on PC, and decided to replay on mobile - didn't regret it one bit. If you're on the fence I'd highly recommend giving this a go. It's more of a prologue to Part 2 for me, as Part 2 is much more substantial, but still a hell of a lot of fun.

Okay, this is by far one of the best story-based app games I've ever played! It's up there with the Evertree Saga in terms of writing (minus romance options) but has more focus on adventure/exploration. The spellcasting in this game is done in a really cool, sandbox kind of way, so how you fight your battles is really up to you and there's many different paths to take/choices to make. A lot of fun to explore all options with rewind feature, the spirit guide is a neat feature too. Big recommend!

I just finished all 4 parts after a few weeks of playing. Yes, the games get very extensive even though you can finish this first part in around 3 hours. The other parts are way longer especially if you're a gamer like me that knows that it's about the journey, not the destination and you like to explore and read everything. I think that this is the best choose your own adventure rpg series that I've ever played even compared to any AAA big budget game. There are soooo many choices and endings!

Absolutely wonderful! Reminiscent of the "choose your adventure," books of my youth! I was so engrossed in this adventure, I went through twice in one day!! I feel this has the potential to be a VERY satisfying serial game. I highly recommend this to any lover of the "choose your own adventure," books of yester-year!! A BIG thumbs up from this gamer!! I'll be playing this one again to see how it turns out for me next time! Great job everyone!!!

Play the series now! I was fortunate enough to play this with Play Pass, but I fully recommend getting the full series. For a solid month, I did nothing on my phone but play these games: they're filled with great characters (including a gay romance if you play as a male character!), a compelling story, and multiple endings that make you want to go back and start the series over again. The combat is satisfying, if a bit easy at times, and the spellcasting is genius!

First playthrough seemed short and bland. I rushed through to complete the game and survive. As I work through my 7th time, i learned how much the game has despite being the start and purposely bland and empty. Once you reach the second part, you will wish you took your time and got everything possible. Amazing story and interactive game. Not many story interactives are out there and this in depth.

Short experience (or maybe I rushed it). I honestly don't know. Sorcery! Is an introduction that gets your journey started. I don't recommend playing this if you don't plan on continuing on to Sorcery! 2. I found this game as a fun little playthrough to start gearing up for your adventure through Khare in Sorcery! 2. You can save character to cloud at the end and continue with your gear onto the next game.

The game is very unique and a good time, but it ends quickly and abruptly, with no real resolution. At $4.99, I can't recommend this game due to this. It feels more like it should be a free demo, introducing the world and gameplay before paying for the rest of the game. It is definitely worth a try if you have Google Play Pass however. 2* at list price, 4* on Play Pass.

Definitely enjoyable, but I wish it was a little clearer that this is only Book 1. The description says "Four chapters" and got me thinking it was all four parts, when it's just the beginning and the description is for the entire series as a whole. Even changing the title to "Sorcery: Book 1" or similar would help avoid some of the confusion there, otherwise it comes across as a way to trick people into spending more.

Choose your own adventure game with tons of choices. My playthrough was a bit short though, and although there are more choices I could rewind to do, I just don't feel like rerunning it, although I could. However, the second game fixes all this and practically makes you rerun it a few times for extra loot and lore. Start with this one, if you're hooked, play the next games. They build upon the same concept, with even better story mechanics.

Tested on four very different devices and on all the touch response is about 1cm higher than the physical touch on the screen, often making options difficult to press or leading to pressing the wrong thing. This doesn't ruin the game, but it takes a little getting used to, is pretty annoying and just shouldn't be the case with any paid app. Other than that, this first installment is pretty awesome, but I'm kinda partial to Steve Jackson, so... Take it with a grain of salt? Edit: Problem fixed!

The 'Choose Your Own Adventure' books made into a game. I can't imagine how difficult and expensive this game was to create and maintain. Every action creates a different path to reach the end. The consequences of your actions carry on through the next 3 games in the series, and beyond - to replay sorcery 1-4 again with increased difficulty because of the choices you made the first time through...

I have played both Sorcery! + Socery! 2 and am obsessed. This game is like a choose your own adventure book with a basic combat system thrown in. The graphics are gorgeous and the immersive storyline will suck you in quickly. The only reason I gave this one 4 stars is because it's rather short, especially compared to the 2nd chapter. I played it for free via playpass but I might have been disappointed if I'd paid $5.99, although it does have decent replayability

Such a great concept and execution. The mechanics are pretty great, though I personally wish the spellbook was easier to navigate and the spellcasting ui a bit more concise. The only major turn-off, like others have said, is the length being short, but given the detail and breadth the game has, it is still possibly worth it (and a necessary get if you have Play Pass). I also wish you could maybe do some kind of character customization, or there were character stats you could reflect upon.

Choose your own path with a random fight simulator that isn't too difficult to play. Decent story. Replay button for every choice lets you choose the best outcomes. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's part 1 of 4. Can't wait to see where the adventure leads. Steve Jackson games hasn't led me astray yet from Munchkins, GURPS, now this. 👏👊💪👍

Installed #2, it says #1 is not installed doesnt continue. For sure you just get robbed and die a lot. If I paid for this I would be dissapointed. For free its not very good, super short too. After you die you just rewind the game and choose the other option. Not sure why this is considered a choose your story game at all. You cannot do anything other than pick an option. You cant eat stuff you kill, you cant rest if needed. You cant heal yourself, you cant buy gear, you cant really do much.
