Still love it, but it self closes almost every night, at random times, for no reason. Preferred app for quality sound. Not perfect, but still the best for my needs. HQ wav to usb to dac. With new phones seemingly going bluetooth only, usb out is essential.

Audiophile approved for sure 👍👍 Edit: This is a good audio app, however this definitely needs someway to implement bass. I do appreciate the natural sound of a good audio track, but some of those tracks do include a vibrant bass signature.

Discovered developers were using some of my encoded songs for improvements without my consent. Would have more outrage but I can't find another suitable non Apple app to play tunes as my Nord does not come with one. Was gonna use VLC but app demands to not operate properly and not access files on my phone. Most expansive precise music player on the market Play Store hands down.

(Update) 3/23/22 - fixed DSD playback. 1/21/22 - the latest update has problems with DSD playback with or without my Amp DAC. The timing and actual audio seem to be out of sync. (Original) Sounds great, but album art not consistently displayed is not good. (Edit) Lowered resolution of album art to less than 900x900px and it works better. Have had some .wav files that cause the player to crash, but im not sure why.

The Sound Quality and the options for editing and sorting your sound library is super useful 👌 New Review AWESOME, AWESOME!!!!!!! My God this is the most effective and easy to navigate Player with a whole bunch of editing features like crossfading that YouTube music doesn't seem to care about bexause I started DJ back in 1980 and the music can never stop .....no silence gaps ....this is an app where you can program a whole party no gaps . DJ is an art for talented people and this is GOLDEN!!

This may have already been mentioned. But just the thought that I no longer have to convert my mp4's to MP3 s is such a time and space saver. This app will play my mp4's as Audio Only which makes a whole lot of sense. That way I don't have to have a bunch of duplicates in two different formats. Not to mention it's actually a pretty solid and nice audio player. Easy to use and understand.

Ive had thus app for afew months and paid for the upgrade. Have had nothing but problems with it. My DAC that i plug in is not supoorted but SOMETIMES seems to work. Out the blue it pops up a message saying connecting to the USB device and wont let me access anything else. Then it stops playing all together. Adjusted various settings but doesnt get better. I also use the app with just wireless head sets but still have issues.

Excellent high definition player! Simple interface, high quality audio output! It does not have all those bells and whistles of other players, yet it can play any format you through in and at the highest possible quality. After trying almost any player claiming high quality lossless playback, I came down to two and this one became my all time favourite in no time. Highly recommended!

This used to be my go-to player for hi-res files, but upon upgrading to Android 12 I have constant problems with my Samsung USB-C DAC dongle. When I plug it in the app confirms it's using it, but when I turn up the volume it will start glitching and going up and down rapidly. The app is constantly crashing too. Please fix so I can go back to using this app that used to be a daily driver!!!

After trying 10 other apps that all claimed to be able to do so, the Onkyo HF player was the ONLY one that made playing .mp3 files from a FAT32 thumb drive possible. The other apps failed to even recognize drives plugged into my phones usb-c port. Onkyo HF simply worked with no hassle. Clean, simple interface, with only a small ad banner. Well done, Onkyo.

Compared to other music apps offering 24 bit audio and lossless file support, onkyo is far less user friendly. From the moment I opened it, I was greated with a file browser. Not a music library, a file browser. If I wanted difficulty I'd choose Neutron, but at least then I'd get better audio quality. I bet a lot of work went into this app, but unfortunately it's not worth user over other apps like poweramp, BlackPlayer, or neutron.

Several provlems with the latest update for 2.9.0. The equalizer no longer works. None of the presets or custom EQ settings work. There is no change in sound when EQ is activated. App attempts to synch library on exit when no change made to library. The update lost my library of music. Had to re-sync each individual folder. The update lost custom EQ settings. Didn't matter since EQ no longer works. This used to be a good app with good updates. What happened?

Excellent! I wanna buy this. And get a nice set of one of the Onkyo headphones sets they give you the option to choose you are using (or other types if you want) bc this is obviously an audiophile app and I always loved Onkyo. It's almost perfect. The lyric option is great. I wish there was a way to save the lyrics but that's a small thing. Great app. I use VLC usually, but this is clearly the best I've heard due to technical details. Video Upconversion is a good analogy but for audio. Get it!!!

This app has become so incredibly disappointing. This was once my go-to music player. So much so that I purchased the unlocked version even though there are other apps that provide the same functionality for free. It has literally become unusable at this point. When it's not constantly crashing, it will fail to read my DAC (all of them), read my music files but not play them, etc. The worst part is that these issues have been going on for months and are actually getting worse with each update.

It's a great app and I hope to upgrade soon to get more out of the headphones and dac I use. However, it does make it challenging that I cannot control the music from the lock screen and some crashes when the widget does not update what song is playing. Good app, just needs some changes to make it more user friendly and possibly updates to work better.

I have been a complete audio snob my entire life, thanks to what my brother taught me about sound reproduction, and being an electrical engineer myself. That said, this app is the best music player you're going to find to taylor the sound of your music, anywhere! I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because some of the navigation within the app isn't quite as intuitive as I'd like it to be, but as far as sound reproduction, I challenge anyone to come up with something to surpass this.

This is app years ago was amazing back when I had a Galaxy S9. I bought a new phone with the latest android and 6gb ram, and now this app crashes constantly. I have auto sync checked and it appears that doesn't work as well as it used to. I have playlists saved from when I had the S9, and it'll play a few songs, crash, and when I go to play the song It Just Finished Playing, it crashes. I've reinstalled the app to no avail. I miss my S9, things just worked back then.

I have tried many music players over the years. This app, hands down, is the best sounding, most musical of them all. Some things like playlist creation/management is a little non-standard, and no Android Auto support; but would give 10 stars if I could for the nuanced, beautiful sound this app produces which makes the little niggles I might have quickly fade. Great job.

A good app for playing music and podcasts. Another app that I used on my phone would refuse to play certain songs due to format; this Onkyo player plays all of them. It would be nice to be able to control music through the lock screen. Also, if a file is marked as podcast, it would be nice for the app to remember the point where you left off. I listen to a podcast and then pause it, close the app. When I reopen the app and resume playing the podcast it starts from the beginning.

Best player I've tried. Sound quality is perfect. The "infinite" EQ is amazing. Playlists are by far the easiest to create, add to, delete from, and edit the order. In rare cases, album artwork does not show up. After years of perfect use, I had it fail to play 1 song in the playlist--it would skip it every time. I just deleted the app, reinstalled it, and it's played fine since. Thanks for another solid piece of work, Onkyo. This is also why I only buy your receivers. : )
