Got to play all 9 cases. I really likes the game, but there were some easy cases like case 5 that were harder than hard cases like case 6. I don't mind the challenge, but especially liked the overall plot and characters. This should have been 20 levels long, since it felt short. Maybe a sequel is in order, or at least an animated adaptation of the entire Layton series. Can't get enough of this game, considering how much I liked it. (UPDATE: Level-5, consider remastering this game for the Nintendo Switch for more exposure. Even the mobile version, looking at the main series, could use more voice-acting in select scenes, and animated cutscenes in place of the stills with texts.)

Firstly a reminder that this game is not free overall - only the first few levels are and the rest need to be unlocked. Having said that, it was an excellent game with a very reasonable price that made me wanting more! Unlike Hershel, Alfendi is a detective, solving crimes rather than puzzles. This means finding evidence, analysing it and coming to a conclusion. It's got an excellent puzzle design and a captivating story alongside it. I fully recommend to any fan of the original Professor Layton series, or anyone who enjoys detective games.

Several reviews mention issues with the game. As for me, my Moto G8 Plus played it fine. I rarely spend money on games, but I enjoyed playing the free cases enough to justify buying the next ones too. It's a good model, allowing players more than enough content to decide whether they want to pay or not, and without being heavy on the storyline (they let the gameplay speak for itself). Players who do pay for the extra cases do end up with the last few cases being more focused on the underlying story. I'd also say they're possibly the weakest parts in some respects, but they'll be people that find them the most interesting ones. They deal with why the Prof is the way he is, and the player gets to investigate on their own for a bit. I really like that you can't really "die" in the game. While that would make things more intense, some of the cases are frustrating because the game-logic and your logic (for example - I knew who had committed the murder because of a particular item, but the solution didn't feature that item at all), or because you miss a clue due to awkward placement. If that lead to "death" it'd make the game far less enjoyable. You don't need to have played any of the other games to play this, and although the game sort of holds your hand, I didn't find it overbearing. Cases are fun to solve still, and some of them can be quite challenging. It's a fun, cheap little game, with good art, good music, and good characters. Main gripe? Lucy. Or more specifically how she speaks. Not charming, sometimes a tad difficult to read, and annoying. That and one of the paid cases where you have to put up with her coming to a idiotic conclusion before you can investigate the case.

It's very good and interesting. I love the story especially the part where there was a change in personality. You will know what I mean once you play the game. I want more of this game please update and add more level with more personality changes.i am some how obsessed with that and couldn't get enough. It is worth it and I want more stories about the professor!!! One more thing, I think there maybe a continuation due to the ending which im not going to spoil.😀

Sure, it only has ~5 hours of content. But those 5 hours have had plenty of love and attention put into them. Great writing, engaging mysteries, and overall rather well put-together. Would definitely recommend if you want an actually decent game to pass the time with. Of course, it's trialware (first two cases are free, the other 7 cost money) but the full game is definitely worth the pricetag.

I am a huge fan of Level 5's work and they just keep on surprising me. I recently found this game and decided to give a try. As soon as the first case started I was intrigued. I loved the Crime Scene and how we find items or clues to piece together with the information we already have. When I found the suspect and we began to intoregate this suspect, the music made me feel like if I was right there speaking to them directly. I felt victorious when my hunch was correct. Great game!

This was a fantastic game. The mysteries were increasingly harder with each story, but were a lot of fun to solve. Highly addictive game. I want another game like this to continue the story. I loved the animation, the graphics, and the story. I loved being able to look at a 3D crime scene and searching for clues. I highly recommend.

I've seen many reviews of people who've been unable to play the game or find many issues with the plot. The game works perfectly fine as of today. Another thing you must keep in mind is that as obvious as some particular levels may be, they're rated low in difficulty for a reason- not just to bore you. The game gets harder and eventually lets you follow whatever sequence you want. Dialogue fulfills the game. Money well-spent. If you didn't truly give the game a try, please don't generalise.

a wonderful experience, each case takes roughly 2-3 hours each, and the first few are free giving you a taste of the game. Worth the $5 for the full game it is so much fun and super enjoyable. It's all touch based controls! and aside from a few quirks technically (main menu doesnt have audio until you switch to another app and then back) it really is an experience, A Layton game but more about actual solving over puzzles! If you enjoy deductions or solving an over arching mystery this is it.

If 2D murder mystery and Professor Layton games pique the curiosity, this game is a perfect combination of both worlds. The diverse characters, riveting story, and fantastic musical score meld together to make one of the most iconic games I had the pleasure of playing on a phone. This is one of the rare mobile games I have sought out and I even paid to keep playing the game too. This game is worth the $5 and, if possible, I recommend playing the Professor Layton games first to appreciate it too.

NOT a "FIND THE OBJECT" (aka not really a detective game) ! This is the real deal! Great story, interesting characters. Has me hooked. Bought extra cases and they are hours long each. The Australian slang is great ;-) Very hard to find good detective games, they are mostly all find the object and this is an actual interrogation / suspects / crime scene game. Very cool, can't wait for more content. Please add some kind of email list so I know when to reinstall and buy more cases!

LOVED this game so much. It's a visual novel type game which tends to be my favorite and every story keeps you on your toes. The mysteries are serious and surprising, and each individual case gives you bits and pieces that link with the bigger case, the last one you play. The first case is a great indicator of if you'll like the rest of the game or not. It's a really exciting game, loved it and I played it 3 times over on both iPad and my Android phone.

Really wish there was a sequel, I fell in love with Lucy and both versions of Al. I had to use a guide at some points because my memory isn't the best for spotting inconsistencies in statements and evidence, but the game also doesn't penalize you for wrong guesses so a guide isn't strictly necessary. Diane has one of the best character designs ever and I'm sad she appears so briefly. Also I rather liked the self contained cases, less to keep track of mentally when playing for hours.

Only played the free episodes so far, but found this thoroughly enjoyable. I rather enjoyed that you actually have to use some bit of "detective skills" to figure out the culprit. I wish it was a little harder though, honestly. Or even with less of the choose from 3 options type style only because it makes some of the answers rather obvious. Either way, I do recommend this game to others looking for a detective style mystery & I look forward to purchasing the rest of the game in the near future!

Absolutely adore this game, but the latest update has compressed just the character portraits, which ruins the whole aesthetic for me. Version 1.0.6 on my slow S7 looks better than this, which is just disappointing. Game is still good, the music is great, delivering whatever mood needed with ease. Can feel a bit annoying to pay for more cases but they are definitely worth it, as the paid cases are less formulaic and predictable, and play into a bigger and legitimately interesting story.

This game is one that you keep coming back to long after you've finished it. Whether it be the beautiful ambient music, or the wonderfully written mysteries, or the mechanics of the game itself, Layton Brothers Mystery Room is one that has earned itself a sequel! Would recommend to anyone who's looking for a fantastic experience at a very low price.

I have n ever played a more compelling mystery game. Never. The story for each case is quite compelling, but even beyond that, the gameplay is top notch. Between searching for the clues yourself, actually conversing with the characters and coming up with the logic, and even how they manage to make dialogue so much more interesting than just a wall of text, this is amazing work. Definitely a must for anyone to try. I would love to see something harder based on this, though.

It's a very fun game, good mysteries, and interesting overall story. The latter cases are indeed for additional purchase, so the first few cases are more like a demo / teaser, but considering the overall quality of the whole game, I'd say it's definitely worth the extra $5 it takes to unlock everything else. If you enjoy criminal mystery games, download and try it out. By the end of the first few cases, you'll know if the game is worth the extra price for you or not.

This game is awesome. When I first played it which was 8 or more years ago so I seen it and redownloaded again and yeah first two missions were the same as I remembered what I didn't remember was the prices of the mission's afterwards. disappointingly having uninstall this app. should have just put it on there that had to pay in the first place wouldn't have downloaded it in the first place.

Challenging, fun puzzles with interesting plot twists! I only had to consult a walkthrough for a few little details that I missed. The game doesn't hold your hand too much, but it helps you along enough as to where you aren't lost. The last level is pretty difficult. I thought paying for cases 3-9 was worth it since I've played through the game twice.
